It seems as the years pass by the more they mean to me and the more I miss wearing them.

I have 2 pair, my Vietnam ones with my old serial # on it along with my original P-38, and the ones I retired with (1990).

Kinda. I have several from active duty and ANG but don't wear them. I had some made with name, TX DL, and insurance info. I am an old guy whose knees made me give up running but walk at a pretty good pace for 4 miles every day. I wear those in case someone finds my laid out on the street or on our nature trail.

To OldArmyCT, I keep a P38 on my key ring (with a piece of tape to keep from impaling myself). I keep a bomb swivel from a TER (triple ejector rack) load of MK82s on my daily wear dog tags. Wish.I'd kept a few more of them.

My unit requires me to.

I keep them chained on my right belt loop and feed them into my right back pocket

I still have mine from Vietnam. Don't wear them, but they are on a shelf with my other souvenirs from my Army days.

This right here. That is how I wore mine for over 20 years unless there was a check going on.

Rarely even wore them when active. Between ZAP cards, a boot tag, wallet, small unit operations, and patches on gear… the use case for the necklace tags was relegated to post-explosion torso identification.

Have my original Vietnam tags, still taped with "army tape", in my Vietnam Memoirs scrapbook- a second set I wear on a key chain in my pocket that after 50 some years are just as smooth and shiney as can be...P38 also on the chain.

Mine got lost or misplaced many years ago. I sure wish I had them.

For nostalgia purposes, you could go to a military surplus store and get some made.

If you are out in the sticks, I'd be happy to get a pair made for you and send them to you.

Stick it in my sleeve pocket when it's specifically on the gear list for a field exercise, or when I'm flying.

I did not serve so don't have any dog tags but I have my dad's from his time in the Marines in World War II. His were the somewhat oval shaped brass ones with the fingerprint or thumbprint etched on the back.

I used to wear them when I was a young boy. On my first trip to Tarawa, I thought about wearing one of them on the visit, to be the second family member to wear that dog tag onto the island. Then got to thinking it might not be a good idea to tempt fate, that one person wearing it to and from Tarawa was plenty, and decided to leave it at home!

Ditto on P38. Surprised TSA hasn't confiscated it after all these years.
