"A portrait of retired Gen. Mark Milley, the former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who has feuded in highly public spats with President Trump, was taken down in the Pentagon on Monday.

A spokesperson for the Pentagon confirmed the portrait was taken down but deferred comment to the White House."

"The portrait, which had just been unveiled Jan. 10, hung in the Joint Chiefs hallway next to those of other former chairs."

Col. David Hackworth referred to perfumed princes vs warrior generals. Any question which side Milley falls on?

In golf terms, we call this "par for the course."

I've got a good friend, West Point grad, Airborne Ranger Infantry, who had Milley as BN CC. He said he was great in that position but has no idea how he got so far off the rails.

As a field grade officer and airborne Infantry, I have seen my fair share of toxic leadership.

I imagine once you leave the Army and head to DC in that capacity, a lot can happen. I'd probably agree with everything your friend says.

I wish to never see that side of the house. I love being with the Soldiers.

He was the division commander when I was in 10th MTN. I thought he was a great commander and he did a lot to make the 4th BDE, down at Polk, feel like an integral part of the division. I too wonder how he ended up as he did.

Sadly too many sell their souls when to go passed 0-6. It's probably always been the case (Hackworth's comments) but seems to increased over the years.

I worked with Milley when he was a COL in the Pentagon. Thought he was a great officer/person then, and although I don't like retired senior officers getting into the political conversation (unless they are actually running for office), I doubt that Milley's character has changed. He just got into it with the wrong guy.

It doesn't seem petty, it is petty. Removing someone serving under you is fine. Going after their memory/ legacy is pathetic.

No different then Bolten. Killing his clearance and access is fine. Removing his security detail. Especially after a known assassination attemp is a dick move.

Yeah, I know it's petty.

Forgive my poor choice of words.
