Well this game got me depressed enough to open my last bottle of RC Double Barrel Spanish Oak. The game may have been **** but this is some damn good whiskey.

Was having a pretty good day picking up whiskey across Colorado and Wyoming…then Aggie football put me back in my place. At least I have plenty of whiskey to help with that.

Nothing particularly crazy, but things I have found interesting along the way. Paul Sutton Heritage in Colorado. Shenk's and a Wyoming Whiskey single barrel that was very good in Laramie. And a k.luke toasted bourbon and a cowboy country distilling bourbon in Pinedale, wy.
Most interesting thing I tried today was a single barrel from cowboy country. Stopped in expecting a quick mediocre roadside tasting and ended up chatting with the owner and master distiller for an hour. His single barrel was phenomenal, but he only releases it once a year and it sells out very quickly…and at $275 a bottle. Don't know if I would have bought one if he had any left, but I lean toward yes, it was that good, with one of the best finishes I've come across.

That is ****ing awesome. I've been around long enough that all of the stuff that people crave these days is **** i remember sitting on the shelf. Nothing piques my interest more than the chance to find something new and finding something new that is actually good, is beyond rare. sounds like you had a pretty damn good day.

Also passed on a few things I'll be tempted to grab on the way back through. Grain to glass bourbon and wheated. Jos a magnus Cigar batch at retail. Some Elijah Craig barrel picks. Peerless double oak. Couple other k.luke variants. 1792 12yr and sweet wheat. Just been trying to grab things that peak my interest first. Instead of things I've grabbed before or can find from time to time at home.

I wasn't planning to get another Cowboy, especially with three currently open including a dusty. But I might have to get that. I have too many of the old significant GB bottles to pass on the 10th anniversary Cowboy.
