Has anyone tried 13th Colony Cask Strength? Specs has it. Wondering if it's worth the hype

He figured if he combined 2 bottles he could claim 170+ hazmat.

I thought it was the double oaked that was hyped? Maybe I'm wrong

Probably works at total wine as well. Bet he'd get you a great deal on chestnut farms.

Any thoughts on Holliday Soft Red and Overholt 10yr?

Holliday Soft Red is criminally underrated. Rickhouse proof is great but the BiB strikes a fantastic balance. Genuinely one of my favorite wheaters.

At BIB strength, I prefer the wheat over the standard, but at Rickhouse Proof they switch for me.

I was lucky to be invited to a Holladay whiskey dinner with the master distiller and a handful of other employees, and sat at their table. When I told them this, they said they agreed and it was a common preference amongst many people they had talked to.

THe double oaked is the one that is one the year-end lists and is really hyped, though the cask strength did get a fair bit of it on youtbude.

I haven't had either but have seen some favorable mentions of the cask strength. i'd say its wort picking up a bottle at a decent price.

I will say if you ever head north just because, there was a large store in Laramie called The Still that was very nice. Very helpful staff and a tasting bar for their picks.

When you head back, if you decide to go through Idaho... Grand Teton Distillery in Driggs has a nice vodka (they also sell one that is huckleberry infused) and they have some interesting (and some not so interesting) whiskeys. Then head on down to Victor and stop by Grand Teton Brewery - really like their beer selection and Otto's food truck is pretty good. The brewery in Pinedale, Wind River, is probably worth a stop. Got to try a couple of their beers and they are not bad.
