Ours isn't family so we try to plan it outside dates when most people aren't with their families! We will probably do it the first week in December next year

Tomorrow we're gonna do:

Merenda: Smoked Rainbow Trout and Asagio Dip with Pita Chips
Apperti: Lobster Rissoto
Primi: Sea Bass with Seared Sicilian Cherry Tomatoes and braised Kale
Secundi: Monkfish Piccata and Angelhair
Insalata: Shrimp Cocktail
Dolci: Panatone with Lemon Gelato

The sea bass actually includes Clam juice and Anchovies as part of the sauce, so we got all the way up to 7 fishes this year.

I am prepping a seven fishes appetizer board for our neighbors dinner. He always does beef Wellington but we sort of pot luck sides and starters for the rest of the street

Shrimp cocktail
Black sesame seed seared tuna
Crab/arugula dip
Grouper ceviche
Crab legs
Tempura fried mahi mahi
White bean toast with caviar

Going at it for year 4 and growing in popularity, we are expecting 20-22 this year so we are going to add some canned/tinned fish since they are "in" right now and easy. Any suggestions other than on toast or cracker for canned fish?
Bump!

What are you doing this year?

Mixed feelings on whether it will happen. Last time my family did it, my mom had a mental break down and drove a car through the house.

My sister just wouldn't stop asking if she was "OK" even though it was pretty clear she wasn't OK.

Also, I'm kinda running my own restaurant that my brother left me (RIP) and it's hard to focus on anything else.

Yeah, I also owe my uncle Jimmy a lot of money and seeing him can be a bit awkward. Not to mention that ******* Lee may be there.

Anyway, this thread would be 50x better if yall would post pictures of your final dishes.

Sounds stressful. Not sure I could sit and watch all that.

Unfortunately, we don't have a ton of seafood eaters in my family, so we're discussing doing a Feast of Seven Dishes, but may not be able to get everyone together until January.

My only requirement/request is we make one pasta dish (gnocchi, malloreddus, or garganelli most likely) from scratch so the kids can join in and we can pass down the family tradition.

Our final menu:

Merenda: Smoked trout dip
Hors D'oeuvres: Seared sea scallops
Primi: Snapper al'aqua pazza
Insalata: Caesar salad with snapper skin-crisps
Secundi: shrimp fra diavolo
Apperti: lobster bisque
Remise en bouche: tuna crudo with micro mint and caracao oranges
Dessert: tiramisu
(Mixing French and Italian recipes for these)

Gonna invite about 10 people over, and feast all day.
