Nice riff on a Boulevardier. Made a standard one last night. I'm not a fan of Negronis, but I like how the bourbon "softens" the bite of the Campari in a Boulevardier.

Agreed, best cocktail with Campari for me

Eggnog Espresso Martini

Picked this one off of Instagram.

1/2 gallon of eggnog (I used HEB brand)
Remove 4 cups (1/2 of container) and replace with 2 cups vanilla vodka, 1 cup coffee liqueur, and 1 cup espresso. Shake with ice, double strain. and top with nutmeg.

Quick, easy and very delicious.

Pretty good alternative to a sazerac.

Lol at least they give the oz first? My only issue is I never found a jigger that has a 1/4 oz measurement.

Internal lines with markings. Use these for tiki constantly due to so many small additions.

Thank you!

Also, I love sazeracs, but sometimes you just need to change it up.

I just picked up the XO a few months ago. I flip back and forth between the two depending on what I'm making.

That and adding pourers to your bottles is also a huge game changer in being exact. And squeeze bottles for syrups and orgeat. So many little things to slowly add in. And a spindle mixer also helps to reduce shaking time when making cocktails for friends and having at least 2 drinks batch made (excluding citrus).

I tried this again, but used bourbon and the liquor.com recipe this time. I think I like this more than a sazerac. Seems more balanced. I'm gonna change my user name to Improved Whiskey Cocktail.

Cant get behind Campari or Vermouth in the Boulevardier. Waste of good whiskey in my book. Ill stick to Old Fashions. Not a gin guy but can't imagine that would change my opinion with a Negroni.

My preferred mix:
2oz Bourbon/Whiskey
4 dash Angastura bitters
1 dash orange bitters
1/4-1/2 oz simple syrup
Cherry
Orange Peel if available

The secret to using vermouth in bourbon/rye cocktails is to stop buying cheap vermouth. Make a Manhattan or Boulevardier with Cocchi or Punt e Mes, and you'll be amazed how much better it is than M&R or even Dolin.

Yeah I'm just not a big fan of maraschino liqueur. There's just something off putting about it to me.

I wasn't a fan until I had it in a proper Hemingway Daquiri. The spice makes that drink.

Didn't get a pic, but tonight I decided to whip up my take on a Christmas cocktail. I'm a huge Negroni fan, so in a pinch that's my default cocktail to riff on. A few years ago I came up with the following. It almost tastes like banana bread.

1 oz Hampden Rum (any Jamaican will do as long as it has some funk)
1 oz Amaro Nonino
1 oz sweet vermouth
Dash of orange bitters

I served over ice with a dried orange slice.

I will say it definitely works in a Last Word. It's balanced out well by the gin and GC.

The green is a little too earthy for my tastes.

Alllll of this. A boulevardier made with Cocchi or even Noilly Prat is light years ahead of one made with Dolin. And I'm a big fan of Dolin.
