You need to special order now.

I'd suggest OF1920 or WT Rare Breed as something that is normally on the shelf they might be able to get in those qty.

You buying at a local store only, or on the secondary?
How many total bottles ?

Plan would be to buy at a place like Total Wine or Specs. We are probably looking at about 100 bottles? Would prefer like 50-75 of those to be "easy" as in just pick a single bottle and buy a bunch of them. For 25-50 we might pick out something a little nicer or different (wine).
My first kid is due in March, so I've been slowly dwindling down my collection. I could probably get you 20-40 bottles in that $50-$100 range and have a wide variety as well. Local to College Station if interested

Appreciate the offer. I prefer the total wine route because they will deliver to our customers. Would be very difficult for us to hand deliver a ton of bottles in Houston, Dallas, OKC, Denver, Midland, etc. It doesn't help that FedEx and UPS won't ship alcohol in Texas.

We are planning to get bourbon for customer gifts for Christmas this year. Thinking $75-125 / bottle budget. For a few customers we may go nicer. Curious to see what recommendations we get from this thread?
I know its a rye, but Angels Envy Rye @ $90 fits the price range and I think its amazing....JMO!

Good luck!
LOVE the Angels Envy Rye.

Another to consider would be Jack Daniels single barrel barrel strength. Seems to be pretty available and reliably good.

Personally, I love the barrell seagrass rye but this could be a polarizing choice.

At that price, I would also look at scotch.

Oban, Macallan etc.

Not a bad idea. Macallan is definitely a name more people know versus a lot of the bourbons I like in this price range.

So yeah I was way off the mark for what volume you are asking. Should've asked that first. Sorry. I second the angels envy rye or the Macallan route

I must be weird because my limited experience with scotch was not satisfying to me. And the last one I tried was Johnnie Blue. Wasn't impressed at all. But I love me some bourbon, especially ryes.

I agree - But encourage you to try Balvenie American Oak. It's finished in oak barrels from Kentucky.

I'll happily try it if someone offers me a taste but I won't be buying any for myself.

Anyone seen Smoke Wagon's new Malted Rye hit secondary yet? I got a hookup on some through a buddy and was curious if there are already values out there

One went for 120 earlier this week. But it's new and things that are malted generally stick to around their MSRP.

Thanks, I couldn't find any listed in any of the groups that I'm in. Just trying to not be stupid on the value, but also don't want to lose out on being early and making a little back on it

Anyone tried the new Old Forester King Ranch yet? I was able to snag two today and am going to crack one open here soon. Was thinking of trading away the second but not sure what the value even is on this.

It's dropped a ton. It was going for 200-250 trade value. Now it's probably about 100 trade value - but not moving much if at all cause the market is flooded

I tried it today. It was very enjoyable, and had a distinctive taste. I don't think charcoal filtering should impart any flavor, even if it's mesquite. I'm guessing the flavor is coming from the heavy char of the barrels.

I also picked up 2 bottles but after trying it I'm keeping both.

Everything looks fine, the secondary market has slowed down considerably in the last few weeks it seems. Probably a combination of Christmas approaching and economy continuing to fluctuate.

Gam inquired about it this morning, but hasn't followed up. I don't know etiquette or protocol, but I'd like to give til 10 am tomorrow for that reply.

If no dice, I'm down for that. I'm in Waco, but headed near Georgetown Saturday.
