Lidded cooking pan

So my last one is pretty much the opposite of non-stick now, the bottom is warped, and I need a new one.

Last one was from Walmart. Maybe Farberware? Not sure. It was non-stick. Looking for something similar, 3-4 quart, with a lid, like 10 inches, steep sides. I cook everything from stews, to curries, to red beans and rice in it.

Anyone have any suggestion on stainless steel vs teflon? And then a decent option at a decent price?

Thanks

Go to kohl's and look at the calpalon line. Good pots for the price.

I like Vollrath. I either get them from Acemart at the actual store or at Amazon.

Let's keep politics out of this forum please.

TO the topic at hand, get a 12" All-Clad stainless pan, and a lid to fit it. It's one of those buy once cry once things.

This. For something that size and versatile, I'd avoid non-stick. Buy a good stainless pan. Get a smaller, affordable non-stick if you need it for scrambled eggs or omelettes.

This. I bought a 13 piece Calphalon Stainless Steel Tri-Ply set about 10 years ago at a steep holiday discount. We cook nearly every meal at home and these pots and pans look and perform today just like they did when new.

There are several pieces in this set have only been used a handful of times in 10 years, but it would have been more expensive to purchase each piece individually.

All Clad is great, but like others mentioned, can be very expensive. It may be worth the extra cost depending on how much you'll use them.

Agree with this. I bought a 4qt SS All Clad Saute pan in 1998 and it's still going strong.

Another option you might look into is Tramontina. Never used myself, but according to reviews online are pretty high quality for the price.

My wife and I have done this for years and it works great. You get a great name brand at marginal cost.

I've also heard about getting the non-stick equivalent at your local restaurant supply store. Same quality but you won't pay for the name.

Take a hard look at Carbon Steel. Better than non-stick IMO.

Also, the majority of my cookware is Made In. They are US based and manufactured.

I think I'll start looking for something stainless. Will probably stick with something mid-range. As a single guy, I feel like I don't need anything too fancy, or a whole set. And hopefully I find a wife that enjoys cooking as much as I do, and at that point we can invest in a quallity cooking set.

Appreciate the help.

I've been wanting to try their stuff out. I think their 3-quart Saucier might just be the excuse I need to get another piece of cookware. I didn't realize they had such high profile endorsements from Colicchio, Ripert, etc.

Yeah... good stuff. I like their cookware and Global knives.

Duxtop brand available on amazon has served me well for stainless / induction ready if you don't want to pay for all clad. Very well made. Have 3 pieces.

I have cast iron, a non stick scan pan, and a small restaurant supply non stick for eggs.
