We just built a new kitchen and have started to get things where we want them, I am interested in hearing your kitchen organization scheme and hacks. I find the more organized my kitchen is the easier it is to keep it clean.

How's your sink-stove-refrigerator triangle? Our triangle is about 3.5 ft x 4.5 ft x 4 feet
Do you store anything on the countertops or not? Our kitchenaid mixer is stored on the countertop, along with salt and pepper but our goal is for that to be it.
What are your storage hacks? We have some big spaces (one deep drawer, one cabinet over the refrigerator and space under the cooktop that also has the downdraft unit) that I am struggling with how to use more effectively. We also put in some toe kick drawers but are using those for dog food/water and baking sheets

Any interesting ways you store small appliances, pot lids, small gadgets, ziplocks, parchment paper and foil?

Parchment, foil, and bags go in drawers. Pint and quart deli containers are great for storing pantry staples. Nest as many pots and pans on shelves as you can.

Thought I replied, guess not. My wife is in the nothing on counter top camp. All our small appliances are in the bottom cabinets of our island. She hates our pantry and really wants to hire someone to come in and help, but I think I've convinced her she can do it without the consultation.

We have a cheep organizer to store our sheet and baking pans horizontally vs stacking. We want to find something similar for pots and pans. They are all stacked in a lower cabinet now. As said above, we also have all foils and parchments in a drawer.

Soon we'll get a bunch of bins so everything in the pantry has a place and is organized accordingly.

Also, there are several organization shows on Netflix now. Scroll through the episodes to find kitchen based ones and you'll get a lot of ideas. That's why we moved the foil, parchment paper, etc to a drawer. My wife saw it on one of those shows.

Serious question, where the heck did you store foil and parchment paper before? Seems like a drawer would be the first place?

This makes me feel like the Rain Man of kitchen storage!

Really depends on the space, right??

I have a ridiculous amount of kitchen and pantry storage....and filled it up.

The pantry. I'd honestly guess the pantry is where foil is commonly stored. Where my family stored it, also where my wife's family did. So we never even thought about it until she saw it on a show.

Wife has been watching that "edit it" show or whatever on Netflix.

Kitchen ones are her jam.

This also came around the same time we designed our kitchen in our new build.

A few things we gleaned and have implemented in our design:

- more drawers and less doors. Drawers let you pull everything out and look at it at once. Doors, you just shove stuff in there and things get lost in the back.

We actually have no doors on our lowers in the kitchen. We have regular pot/pan drawers, 2 pullouts that look like 2 drawers each but are actually just 1 large DEEP pullout side by side (will be about 20" deep).

We have 2 vertical pullout racks (like pullout spice racks but bigger) for sandwich bags, oils, spices, foil. Again, to pull out and see everything and toss it right back in there to shut. Sheet dividers in 1 door cabinet.

We put our coffee bar in the pantry (counter height) and a single open shelf below it for appliances.

Pullout dual 50qt trash cans in island next to sink, opposite dishwasher. Fridge and dual oven are close to dishwasher as well as pantry. Wanted to keep trash can at a reasonable distance from the fridge otherwise people would be on top of one another while in the kitchen (fridge open trash can open pantry open).

We also have open shelving for easy access things like plates and bowls.

In our butler pantry, we've put slide out shelves in a door cabinet (slide out liquor tray) - again, to see everything.

- focus on items that get used the most and strategically place them in organized areas by "type"

Think: snacks, drinks, dry goods, coffee, baking items

-clear acrylic bins for organization that is labeled

Get rid of your junk!! You don't need 15 NIOSA cups from 2008 or 7 Wurstfest pitchers.

Get nice plates and bowls to display - nothing crazy, just not your plastic wal Mart special.

Can I say it again? Get rid of your junk! We're living in a rental right now and seriously use about 1/3rs if the sheit we have.

that's s a good point.

we have doors, but they all have two pull out drawers/shelves inside. It doesn't give you as much volume, but it's well organized.
all of our drawers are also SUPER wide, so we have fewer, but in total they hold more.

another thing we like is that we have a rod 2 roll paper towel holder built into the face of a pull out drawer. Behind the paper towels in the drawer is an area for kitchen towels and pot holders.
