I am taking a flyer here but they used to sell their Paletta's Special Spices in small homemade baggies. It is the main source of spices in a recipe that my family has made for over 50 years on Christmas Day. They closed down several years ago and I have tried to recreate the spice mix with limited success. I was wondering if anyone on here remembered them or had any ideas of how to match their spice mix. I know they had Aggies in the family. Thanks.

Yes, indeed I remember Frankie Paletta's place. It was first located downtown on the corner of Martin and North Santa Rosa. The hospital's parking lot is there now. He then moved to Recoletta across from the Rollercade. His fresh ground parmesan cheese was the best.

We sold him lots of individual spices over the year, but he blended them up himself and I have no idea of the recipe. Sorry.

Still trying to match the Mama Mia sauce. That red stuff with the pimentos, vinegar and celery.

Gig 'em Aggies!
