I am considering purchasing a pellet grill. I want to use it as a smoker, but also want the option to cook at higher temps for steaks and burgers. I want a dependable pellet grill with a good hopper and auger that will hold temperature, is well sealed to hold smoke and heat, and is made with quality material that will not rust out, For those of you that have a pellet grill, what are your recommendations for brand and model that best meet my preferences? While cost is a consideration, I am willing to pay more if it translates to better quality.

i just bought a rec teq and think the quality of the build is outstanding.

i can't comment on high temps, but i think you can get a sear plate to help. that's been my biggest issue the time to get to a high heat.

What's your budget? That's going to determine what your real options are.

I have zero complaints about my Ok Joe's Rider DLX. I will put the brisket up against my own stick burner, just takes about 16-18 hours instead of 12 or so, with a great bark, smoke ring, and flavor. And it will flat out sear the piss out of anything you want to put on it, i've measured my grates at 690 degrees. There are way more expensive and quite frankly better pure smokers, but for an awesome combo that will work from grilling chicken, or smoking a brisket or pork butt, I think it's a great compromise.

Agree. These pellet smokers can get expensive fast. I'm not looking for luxury, just quality. If it is well built, holds smoke and heat, and has a long life, I would definitely pay a little more for that.

Thanks. I have been focussed on Camp Chef and Traeger brands based on what I have read online and talking with some friends. Good to know th OK Joe is working well for you. How is the construction? Is it a pretty solid build? I want one that will not rust out in 3 years.

Mine lives under a gazebo, and then also under the Ok Joe's cover, and it has zero signs of wear and tear. As far as construction, I have not had a single issue and its run flawlessly every time, and I would compare it to the Treager or other brands in that price range. Is it the same as those costing 3-4x or more, probably not, but I wasn't looking for a $3000 pellet grill. Also, i've used several of the other brands, and I've yet to come across one that can actually grill. Many, make that all of them, if done properly, can smoke, but imo, it's the only one that can also work as a daily grill. I hardly ever use my gas grill anymore. Any other questions, let me know and I will answer what i can.

I love my my Weber SmokeFire and got it because it gets hotter then any others, 600. Had some initial rollout issues (mine was flawless), but they've fixed them from what I've read.

Grilla grills silverbac is another great option. If near Dallas they have a showroom to see in person. Comparable to a rec teq when WiFi feature is released in the spring

There's only 1 correct answer here. Yoder YS640 with the 2 pc diffuser. Incredible cooker. Grill, smoke, sear 150-600+

USA made 100%. Not sure "assembled in the USA" like it's main competitor. And certainly not Chinese like all the others.

We have an order arriving in 2 weeks with a couple units left if you're in the Houston area. Just let me know.
