As someone who likes actual whiskey (intentional 'e') I thought I would hate peanut butter whiskies. I've hated every honey or fruit variation of whiskey ever introduced. I don't like artificial fruit flavors in whiskey and I've found the honey versions to be cloyingly sweet. For reference, my daily drinkers (just a figure of speech...I can quit any time...no really) are WT 101 and Bulleit Rye, which are admittedly a little sweet.

I have to say, however, that I LOVE peanut butter whiskies. I have had a great time trying all the different brands and present my top three nominations for your consideration:

3) Blind Squirrel-just a really nice flavor of peanut butter in a corn whiskey base. A little one-note but very pleasant, especially at the price point ($18 at Specs).

2) Skrewball- the OG and the most complex flavor profile. You get a hint of salted peanut and cinnamon with the taste, but it's higher priced ($27 at Specs) than the competition.

1) Ole Smoky-another corn-based peanut butter whiskey but has a great peanut butter flavor and, unlike every other brand, a very pleasant creamy peanut butter mouth feel.

Honorable mention:
a) Sqrrl peanut butter whiskey-a very pleasant peanut butter AND butterscotch flavor but has a chemical aftertaste that diminishes it

b) Select Club pecan praline Canadian whisky-might actually be my favorite. The best description is that it's like pecan pie in a glass. Has a wonderful toasted pecan nose and taste. Only downside it it's on the higher side ($27), but comparable to Skrewball.

I tried the Skrewball one. It instantly made me feel like I needed to go brush my teeth because my mouth felt like it was covered in peanut butter.

I don't like it, but I could see it being useful in cooking something that you wanted to have whiskey and peanut butter flavors.

Putting so Screwball in with a bottle of Yuengling Hershey stout makes for an incredible dessert.

How much more over the top peanutty are they than, say, an Old Grand Dad 114. It's inconsistent, but most bottles I get taste like liquid peanut brittle. Really good, but different than how I'd imagine something with a peanut butter flavor.

My thoughts exactly. I enjoy the peanut notes in OGD and KC but not sure I want my tongue hit over the head with peanut flavoring.

Peanut butter whiskey is my new obsession!

Combine a shot of pb whiskey with a shot of Framboise (or Cassis) liqueur and it's like a pb & j!!!

you serious Clark?

I have only tried the Skrewball and instantly thought it would be great in some hot chocolate...a reeses peanut butter cup in a cup.
Please tell me there's a special place in Heaven for Aggie fans! It's like we are living some sort of penance on Earth.

Serious as a heart attack brother! That chocolate stout tastes like a Hershey's bar, so in a hot chocolate would also be great.

Probably should have mentioned that most of these PB whiskies are still very sweet. I think they're best if you keep them in the freezer.

Native makes one that's more whiskey and less PB if you don't want it as sweet.

Love the idea of the PB&J shot. I've also heard that you can mix it with a chocolate liqueur to make a Reese's shot.
