I finally made some Saturday night after the game. I altered it a little bit with a few extra shots of booze.
I'm calling it "41-38"

I made a batch of AB's recipe last year on Thanksgiving and gave bottles of it away to friends as Christmas gifts. One couple got in a fight over their bottle. Everyone else has requested more this year and our friends that fought over it want two bottles. We drank the bottle we kept so didn't get to age a year. I'll be making a double batch this year and hiding a jar of it away.

Finally remembered to make it in advance this year! Had a small taste off the mixing spoon and beaters which was great, but excited to pull some out around Thanksgiving and Christmas after it ages a bit.

Question, Tried some last night and there was a thick cream mass on edge of the mason jar. Is this normal and how best to reincorporate it back into the nog?

Just finished six batches. Separating 72 eggs is tiring. Had to use my crab boil pot to mix it all. Word got out and I had a lot of Christmas orders to fill. Filled up 19 32oz swing top bottles. I'm going to have to take one bottle and top off all the others after all the foam settles.

Sample cup was excellent.

Powder sugar or regular granular sugar? Also, is it simply 3 cups of your chosen liquor or does it need to be cognac, bourbon, and rum?

Granulated. I think the 3 liquors play into the flavor. But I'll never tell a man to use less bourbon.

Doubled the recipe. Ended with 6 quarts of mason jars. Hope I made it soon enough to be good for Christmas. Whatever we don't drink will get to age much longer.

Have about 7 bottles of the AB. Opened one this weekend to try while doing Christmas decoration stuff.

Very good. Made it in early October.

I use Bulleit Bourbon, as it has spice hints to me. Tend to be pretty random on the Spiced rum and Cognac since I know nothing about different brands taste profile on these as I never really use them otherwise. Just try to pick something from the middle shelves.

Thought about making some with TX whiskey. Its vanilla favors might work well. But didn't get around to making another batch.

Had some w/ the inlaws that had been aging since Sept and they liked it but thought it was too strong. HA! They drink bourbon neat.

I've been tossing in a shot of chilled espresso with mine over ice since it's basically summer outsider. Very good.

Just cracked our batch we made in September. Fantastic. This batch definitely won't make it through the weekend. Next year I'll have to remember to make a double batch.

Just made my first round of Alton Brown's for the winter holidays. Planned to do a 6 month age but 5 will have to do. Skipping the rum this year for going with bourbon and brandy.

My batch has been in the fridge for over 200 days now. Last year I had a 75 day batch that was amazing, I'm excited to see how the 350 day batch turns out
