I'm sure it's fine for mixed drinks just like a Keurig is fine for coffee. But for the $300 alone for the Drinkworks machine you could have a good jumping off point for your home bar setup, have more options for drinks, better ingredients, and choose your liquors. To me vodka is vodka, but when you are making drinks using whisky, rum, gin, tequila, brandy/cognac, etc it makes more sense to be able to pick exactly what liquor goes into the drink. Also, controlling the sugar content makes sense too, do you make a plain 1:1 simple syrup, 2:1, white sugar, demerara sugar, sugar cubes, etc. Plus the skeptic in me has a hard time thinking a pod is going to get close to the flavor of freshly squeezed juices/oils.
Anyone interested in potentially getting into home cocktails there are some great youtube channels. How To Drink, The Educated Barfly, Cocktail Chemistry, and Steve the Bartender to name a few.
But looking at the prices of the pods, for example a 12 pack of old fashioned is $41.99, for $41.99 you can get a decent bottle of bourbon and some bitters. Same for mojito, 12 pack is $41.99, $41.99 gets you some nice rum to make cocktails with.
But for those that don't want to go to the trouble, I could see the Drinkworks as having it's market, it's just not for me.
