Does anyone here use Xtrema cookware? From what I understand, it is a 100% ceramic cookware rather than a thin layer of ceramic on top of various metals.

One big selling point seems to be that it doesn't leach anything from the pan into the food.

Currently, I use Visions cookware for nearly everything but frying and eggs. I started using Visions in the mid to late 1980's and love it.

For eggs, I have a cheap non-stick pan from Walmart. Even after four years of so, it remains non-stick and I don't even have to add any oil or butter to the pan and the eggs still don't stick. For everything else, I have a relatively inexpensive stainless steel pan.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out whether it might be worth the effort and cost to try Xtrema cookware.

Why you use butter when cooking eggs:

Improve flavor and texture: 98%
To help prevent sticking: 2%

After some looking, I think it unlikely that I will try Xtrema cookware.

Although it has a very long warranty, it can break and if it does break, the company reportedly doesn't want to honor the warranty. According to some reviews, they just offer to sell you a replacement at a discount.

Also, it's apparently not any more non-stick than any other ceramic cookware. I've tried some of the less expensive ceramic cookware and it works okay for a little while, but inevitably it begins to stick badly.

Off topic: I cook my eggs on a non stick pan, mid way between over easy and over medium... put them in a bowl and cut them up. It's almost like soft boiled eggs, which I love, but take too long. No butter needed.

If nonstick is the goal you should consider carbon steel. That is all I use for eggs now and a well seasoned carbon steel pan is about as nonstick as the teflon stuff.
