I made some of Alton Brown's Eggnog in December and stored away in the fridge. Our refrigerator went about 12 hours w/out power at its longest break (previously only an hour or two at a time until then), but was opened occasionally to pull items out for use.

Should I be concerned, or is there enough alcohol in there to protect a short-term gentle rise in temp?

It was in the fridge section not the freezer section?

I thought/think general rule of thumb is 4ish hours you're okay. Maybe more if you're not opening it, but you said you opened it a lot.

Is it the only thing besides maybe cheese produce that you're still gonna use out of the items that went through this? Good question on alcohol being a potential deterrent. But in my own estimation I would toss it or drink it now. Wouldn't want it to age any more.

Most of the stuff that was in my refrigerator is currently sitting in a closed ice chest on my back porch.

Your nog is probably fine.

We put a lot of things outside (frozen) or in the garage (not frozen) at the time. We didn't empty our entire fridge though and I realized the eggnog was one of the things left behind.

I'll monitor it and see if anything grows.

Keep it. I think it will be obvious if it is bad later.

Just drink it. It's a message.
