I'd try to track down a Whitmeyer's Single Malt.

Milam and Greene? I like it. But like the barrel proof better. Both are on the bar.

I like Garrison Bros stuff.

If we're talking just whiskeys and not bourbons, I really like Lone Elm (wheat).

Ironroot Republic their stuff is pretty good

No Balcones? Is that seen as inferior now? I adore their Single Malt, and their single barrel version is even better. Or their cask-strength True Blue

Single malt is the way for TX whiskey.

Balcones makes some good stuff. I wonder if you tried reaching out to them, they could get you in touch with their distributor and where their good stuff is most likely.

With COVID, you're going to have to track down some whisky yourself or reach out to someone in the industry. The good stuff worth buying in a raffle barely hits the shelf.

Garrison brothers usually stays on the shelf longer around west houston, but only because I've seen it priced at like a 120 a bottle.

Also, for that much money just go straight to scotch.

Still Austin Musician Cask Strength?

Haven't had it yet but the regular Musician is pretty ok.

I had a small bottle of Still as a gift. It's a decent whiskey, though I have no idea what it costs.

last Tx whiskey I really enjoyed was the Texas Bourbon from Rio Brazos. paid like $50 at Spec's, probably been 4 years ago

My impression of the regular musician was that it's was a classic, solid bourbon. Nothing special, but ticked a lot of bourbon boxes if that makes sense. When I bought it around Christmas it was $40, which I thought was a little over priced.

Texas Whiskey is decent and getting better, people just hate on it because it's not overly sweet like a lot of Kentucky Bourbons. It's the same snobbery that Scotch drinkers have towards American Whiskey. IMO, they are all good

Curious on this board's thoughts on Nine Banded. I bought it cause I thought the bolo tie was a funny gimmick, but actually enjoyed the whiskey. Is it actually good, or do I have bad taste? (Likely)

I got the Balcones Single Malt, ill update here shortly what everyone's thoughts are.

Whitmeyer's is a close second.

Yes, yes there is.

I've only had one bottle of balcones single malt and thought it smelled and tastes like brown tequila. It was bizarre. Friends agreed, so wasn't just me. Maybe I got a bad bottle, but I won't buy it again.

Whitmeyer's batches available only in the distillery are delicious.

I guess I'm in the minority but I really like balcones, especially the single malt. The true blue cask strength is also great.
I finally got my hand on a Whitmeyer's single malt that's fantastic.

Both HBS Balcones single malt/barrel picks are delicious. Glad i was able to snag a honey barrel.
