They are great if you are a fan of the flavors they bring. I love them. Don't have a personal bottle Rec though unfortunately.

Good stuff. Basically tastes like an apple whiskey. But real apple whiskey. Not surupy sweet fake apple flavor like the Jim Beam or Jack Daniel's Apple type nonsense. I like it as an occasional changeup to my normal bourbons and scotches.

Yes it's like an apple brandy made out of actual apples and not an apple-flavored grape liquor.

You can get excellent XO or Hor d' Ages calvados for $50-$60. My personal favorite is Chauffe Couer. I like it a bunch in the summertime as an after dinner digestif since it isn't as heavy as a bourbon or rum.

I cook with Calvados more than drink it, I don't think about it when making drinks. When I make an Apple Crumble, it's in there.

The bottle I have is Daron, I like it but honestly have no reference point to measure that against.
