Just moved back to CS after 30 years in Houston. Any recommendations for Italian restaurants in College Station?

I've not been to 1860 Italia, but have was told it was good. I've been gone a while myself and wish Cenare was still around. They had a Pollo Valentino that I thought was great.

Eager to see what other responses you get.

The cannelloni at Fritella used to be great, but I haven't been there in a while.

Coincidentally, the closing of multiple Italian joints is being discussed on the Aggieland board on the stickied thread. Fritella's, Joe's, Carino's, and now Paolo's have all closed in the last few months.

1860 Italia is solid. Amico Nave is pretty good. Luigi's is average. And I haven't been to Caffe Capri in several years, so I can't judge it.

We took my son to Cafe Capri in July for his birthday. Good food but small portions.

1860 is great food but IT IS VERY LOUD in the restaurant. You will have to raise your voice to have a conversation with people at your table, so be prepared. Also I'm not sure if I mentioned it but it is very loud in there.

Luigi's is nice, probably not quite the quality of 1860, but they have live music most nights and a more intimate environment.

Amico Nave is also very good, not as fancy, but great food.

We haven't been to Cafe Capri recently but it has always been solid, and the prices are reasonable.

RIP Fritella - a hidden gem that will be greatly missed.

I'm personally a big fan of Amico Nave. That's my recommendation. Not super fancy but fantastic food and very reasonable pricing as well.

Always amused when I see Cenare on these lists. Maybe I caught them on a bad day each time I went, but it always tasted like microwave TV dinners.

Love Italian Food. My takes:

1860 is probably tops right now. It's very good but yes its a bit loud in there, but I'm willing to look (or hear) past that there. My go to dish there is chicken parm sub vodka sauce for red sauce.

Cafe Capri: Good solid food, but as poster above mentioned portions are small and the menu is small. They have very good and personable service here too.

Paolos: Is actually about to close down I just read, so not going to get into that much other than to say it was good not great

Luiggis: The ambiance is great here, but the food is not. In fact, it's been pretty bad both times I went and one of the times I went, the service was off the charts bad.

Amico Nave: Only eaten here once and it was a lunch chicken parm sandwich. It was good, but not outta this world or anything.
