I recently bought some regular apple butter from Cracker Barrell and find it to be very bland. I also know that they make a spicy variety.

What can I add to the one I bought to spice it up a little?

i bought a jar of apple butter yesterday and had the same experience as you…tasty but mild….added a TBSP of pumpkin pie spice….it gives it a good flavor, although it really takes away alot of that original apple butter flavor…

i suggest trial and error in small doses…

Fresh ginger (or the tube paste version).

I've found the tube paste to be milder than the real thing.
