I'm in Northlake now so don't eat Mexican in FW. I like to go to the places where I'm the only white guy. I go to La Fondita a lot in south Denton for the Golden Tacos (birria tacos). They're incredible.

I'll travel for BBQ though. Grew up on Railhead ribs and their jalapeno onion fries (this and frozen beer is the only thing worth going here for now though), but grew up to realize it was really just trash compared to what real bbq can be. Now if I'm going to FW it's for Panther City or Dayne's. Went to Heim a couple times but wasn't impressed. If I had the time, obviously Goldee's would be on the list.

Word of caution we don't travel too far for food since we have 2 kids (2yr & 5yr). Mainly stay close to home (FW southside)
I/we don't make it up that way but if I do I will have to try those places. I currently only frequent one taqueria (I'm the only white guy) and its Tacos La Banqueta (Hemphill). I need to try Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez (my employees like it). As for white Mexican food our haunts are Esperanzas, Enchiladas ole, and yes Uncle Julios (not that often since we have kids & its very loud)
As for bbq our places are mainly Heim (very close to our house) and Panther City. I've had Daynes when it was at Lolas but need to try its new location. Have not been to goldees yet. Its a trek. I still like Railhead for a cold beer and some ribs and fries. Also need to try the new Hurtado right by us.

I enjoyed Railhead too as a kid. I haven't been to the "good" FW spots yet but want to. I still think Railhead is fine for a chopped sandwich. I also enjoyed the stuffed bear at Angelo's.

ETA… sorry about the emoji. My 7 year old snuck his hand in right before I posted.

Damn kids. Think the three of us are in the same boat of awesomeness/hell at the same time....5 and 6 year old boys. Chaos.

Since you're southside, Longorias has (as of 5 years ago) a good all brisket sausage that was written about by Daniel Vaughn at some point, but everything else sucks there. I even asked the owner why he didn't mass produce his sausage at the time and he didn't understand what I was saying.

Then you won't want to go to Kennedale for Goldees!

Best Mexican food is at "cancun" off highway 80. For sushi go to sushi axiom! They have 2 locations.

Can't vouch for the Sushi Axiom elsewhere but the one in North Richland Hills is garbage.

I like how this chain started with a guy saying he was from the Pacific Northwest and we got Fort Worth Ags talking about f'n sushi axiom.

Ya go to Joe T's. Ya go to Railhead or Angelo's. Ya go to Del Friscos, kincaids, La playa, cattlemen's or Reata. The foods mediocre but you go to the original too.

Lol. Agreed. Was surprised when that one got thrown out there.

I should also say that Matsui did a great job with that list. One good Tex Mex option he omitted was Uncle Julio's. Specializes in grilled stuff and has my favorite fajitas in town.

Uncle Julios was my Dad's favorite. I had been there several times previously and we went there after his funeral. It was still pedestrian and is a FW equivalent to Chuy's.

I put sushi axiom at Montgomery plaza right up there.
