Bought ours from H-E-B last year and it turned out well, just looking for other options as well as getting a bone in.

I should have rephrased my question along the lines of looking for suggestions of places other than the big name grocery stores. I thought about ordering one from 44 Farms or other online retailers but just looking for suggestions or references.

TIA

I order from HEB. I tell them many bones and from what end. For me, prime, 3 bones, chuck end. They always ask if I want the bones pre trimmed and tied or not. I always get a confirmation phone call the day before.

I usually go to one of the known local butcher shops. The closest that has been around for a long time usually has aged bone-in prime rib.

Can you explain the difference in the "end"? My husband likes the cap part of the ribeye best… which end would I get to maximize that?

The loin end will be a larger eye and generally less fat and the chuck end a smaller eye and corresponding more fat.

Kroger running a sale thru tuesday $3.97 a pound. No Limit. There were about 20 in the box yesterday.

Pretty hard to find a prime rib that will not turn out if you cook it right.

I bought a PRIME rib roast at HEB for 16.99 /lb yesterday. That's the pice they had on it at the meat counter. It rang up for 18.99. Another HEB had them at 18.99. It's a beautiful rib roast.

Yeah, Kroger occasionally has awesome sales. First time, I was worried something was wrong, but not after tasting. Just took three to son in Massachesetts and cooked for Christmas. A big hit.

It wasn't a prime but it turned out pretty good. Cooked in the oven at 500* for 31 minutes, then turned down to 325* until it reached an internal temp of 120*.

I saw the deal and picked up two 7 pounders from Kroger (so I can pull at different times for the family members who don't like it as bloody as me). They were awesome and I have a ton leftover. Favorite meal of the year.
