Appreciate the reply. The plan is for some kind of diet sprite analogue; 7up, of whatever generic they have. Problem is that nobody stocks diet lemon lime, only full sugar, hence the thread. I was hoping there was some sort of alternative I was missing or forgetting, and there are several good suggestions listed. I have little kids, so I don't go out drinking much. When I do, it is nice to have options. Thanks.

This is relevant to the discussion I think, if you want to ever consider wine as an option.

The diet sodas/cokes will spike you blood glucose

Club soda
Mineral Water

Also easier to go non alcoholic when you want

Pretty sure that diet soft drinks don't really affect blood glucose levels at all. At one point it was thought that they affect blood insulin levels but I think that's been mostly found to be not true.

I could be mistaken.

Sugar alcohols may affect blood glucose, but those artificial sweeteners that don't have that are ok according to the Mayo Clinic

Vodka soda.

Doesn't tonic water have sugar in it anyways?
Fever Tree makes a light tonic water that's pretty good. It's what I use for gin and tonics.

230 versus 250 for vodka and scotch. Not much difference. Besides, it's a great drink and good enough for Churchill.

1 oz of everclear is 190 calories. Your body has to process alcohol regardless of anything you add to it.

FYI...

Alcohol has zero carbs, but it obviously does contain calories. Regarding caffeine...unless the caffeine is added at the bar, the Feds don't allow caffeine or any other stimulants in packaged alcoholic beverages. This came to a head a few years ago when a company decided it would be cool to develop an Energy drink with alcohol. TTB quickly killed it.
