It's awesome. And by "cheddar" cheese, I mean Kraft American cheese or similar. Gives the pie a buttery taste.

I've never done it, but I don't think it weird. I'm not a fan of apple pie. Apples and cheese are a natural pairing. Apples are great dippers for fondue.
