A couple weeks ago we grilled the HEB patties and I noticed that a few of them puffed up in the middle but didn't think anything of it. I used my thermapen to make sure they were around medium. My wife makes our girls their burger and then proceeds to slice it half for them and it gushes blood like a fruit gusher candy. The patty looks like there is a horizontal slice in the middle. Anyone else experience this? I guess if it happens again I should cut a slit in it to release some of the juice?

Is it possible they were not fully defrosted and frozen in the middle still?

I bought them on a Sunday and they stayed in the fridge till Wednesday and pulled them out about 20mins prior.

Poke your thumb into the middle before cooking and make a small impression. Keeps the burger from puffing in the middle and holding the juice. Works every time.
