Howdy!
I hope you Ags are ready for some high proof Texas Whiskey! Once again, we had a great time with the fine people at Rebecca Creek. The staff on site always gives us the VIP treatment while letting us taste some good stuff. We chose the 129.1 Proof Spanish Oak, the highest proof ever bottled. We asked and Rebecca Creek will never make another batch of Spanish Oak again! We are grabbing a piece of Texas history here. I can't wait for ya'll to try this pick! I think the team did a great job in choosing this one. The bottle release party will be a good one at OLC. Brisket, Smoked Brisket Queso, bottle share and good tunes. Time and Date TBD.
The Blue Skies Foundation is currently working on the tater sticker for the back of the bottle but below is the sticker that will be featured on the bottom front of the bottle.
Thanks again for helping the foundation. Somethings are bigger than bourbon.
Once I find out the official price of the bottle from Oak Liquor Cabinet, I will make a follow up post with:
1. Your mule's email (Mule will provide you their venmo)
2. Price per bottle
3. Donation link (Send screen shot of donation to your mule for confirmation, $10 per bottle)

Put Reginald Cousins on the CS list and I will mule it back to East Texas for him.
I am happy to take a couple with me from Htown for the release. I have space for 3 more in my truck.

I had a conversation with the Rebecca Creek Master Distiller about where the Spanish Oak was sourced from.
The barrels are from a out of state cooperage and the wood came from Spain. Quercus Robur is the species of Oak, Which basically is a French Oak grown in Spain. The Trees typically take 120 years to mature before they are ready to harvest and when grown in the hotter and drier climate of Spain the wood becomes even more porous and prone to leaks. That first 4 years of aging in the Spanish oak is really what gives the Spanish oak double barrel its distinctive taste and aroma.
He recommended a book called Cask Management by Matt Strickland and said it was very informative.
Blue Skies Foundation just sent me a preview of the tater sticker. Pretty sweet.

When is the release?
The bottles are backlogged in the distribution channels so I'm not sure. Seems to be slow movement right now but im hoping to hear back soon.tremble said:MarathonAg12 said:
