Are you trying to argue what I said or make a counter point? Inventions are made to solve problems; everything you mentioned solved a problem. In this case, the smart devices solved a problem, which for many is unsuccessfully cooking steak based solely on feel.

I hate to break it to you, but the steak you posted in your OP isn't seared. Perhaps you could try a device like a propane torch or searzall to finish the job since you are among the apparent many who unsuccessfully cook a steak based solely on feel.

Oh it's a cheater steak so it was beautifully and perfectly Sous Vide at 128*F for about 2.5 hours then seared in high temp oil in a stainless skillet. Just salt and pepper, nothing special on seasoning. I find if you pull it out of the water bath and let it sit for 10-15 min to cool just a bit, the sear sets better without continuing to cook the center.

It was absolutely great and I cried myself to sleep that night from the sheer joy of how easy such a delicious steak was contrasted sharply with the scorn from this board for having cheated.
