I can buy frozen blocks of sashimi grade salmon at Central Market, but I haven't seen yellowtail/hamachi.

I'm in Frisco FWIW. I can order online if necessary but hoping there's a local place I could hit.

Seabreeze Market in Plano might be worth a call.

Ask the seafood counter at HEB. They often have a loin to cut from at ours and it's not a CM.

It apparently is something that is only sold for sushi purposes directly to restaurants. In TX that is problematic for the home cook due to the laws requiring 'sushi' grade fish be frozen ice block solid for 4 days. Probably easier to get on the coast but I couldn't find in the Plano/Frisco area.[

Maybe try Kazy's Gourmet. It's located off of 635 between Greenville Ave and Abrams.

I bought a pre-fileted frozen sushi-grade himachi side (around 2lbs) at H-mart in Carrolton about 6 months ago.

ah H-Mart is a good call. Frack. I was in 99 Ranch Mart on this weekend and didn't think to check their massive seafood counter.
