I have a ceramic stone and it works fine for my needs, but I've heard good things about baking steels. Here's an example of one. If my ceramic ever shatters I'm getting one of these.

I use a steel plate and like it better than my last ceramic stone. Plus I'm definitely not going to break it.

We've had a Pampered Chef stone for 20+ years. Works well! We'll reassess if/when it breaks.

This is what I use as well. Takes a good while to heat up but I get better results with it. You can buy 1/4" steel plates on amazon, just figure out what size suits your oven/grill.
