Posted this also on General Board, I had forgot about this board.

Need to book a dinner for 8 people at around $100/ head in Boston.

Looking for something more "Bostony" than just a typical steakhouse.

Any suggestions?

Go to the North End for some of the best Italian-American food out there. If you're looking for higher end options, try Strega or Il Panino.

Go to the North End and start walking the Freedom Trail. Along some back cobblestone streets find a 10 table place and start eating. It doesn't matter which one you pick. It will be amazing.

Shoot. I misread the OP. I just described the opposite of a steak house. Sorry.

Union Oyster House. Oldest restaurant in the US. The building stored uniforms during the revolution. JFKs favorite table is marked with a plaque.

Don't hate the messenger but after living in Boston for 3 yrs I thought their Italian food was overrated.

Boston has excellent French restaurants. Consider Mistral or Aquitaine.

For more "Bostony" you could do Atlantic Fish Company on Boylston. Boston seafood is NOT overrated.

This, Regina (not the one in Quincy Market), Humbertos, Neptune Oyster House, Florina Pizza, Mikes Cannoli's, Cafe Vittoria, North Street Grill, Cafe Landwer, (warning... chain, but quite good...) Legal Seafood, and lastly, I know it's a Landry's chain now, but the original location of Chart House that the chain was based on is on the wharf. We had a great meal there.

Yes, go to the old, original Regina. Avoid the other locations. If you go to Umberto bring cash

this. became pretty good buddies a couple years ago with the manager (Ron) of the original loation in the North End. We mentioned to him that we had a slice at a different location and we told him it sucked and he started laughing. Even he said never go to the other spots because they are all terrible. The OG is the one to go to. Also if you make it in to the OG and you meet Ron let him know your a yankees fan. He will hook you up.

Going into Regina in the North End and claiming to be a Yankee fan seems dangerous, haha
