I have a bunch of old opened bottles of whiskey, tequila, and vodka. These bottles are potentially even 20 years old. Are they still good? And if not how do you dispose of them? Online it says you shouldn't pour them down the drain and the household hazard waste collection center in my area won't take them. What do you do with it?

You can pour it down the drain. If you are worried about it run the water. I have a friend who has helped lots of severe alcoholics detox and the first thing she does is dump their $10 handles of cheap vodka right into the sink.

i'm sure you could find someone to take them off your hands if you are looking to dispose of them.

The whiskey is probably still good.

It isnt hazardous waste. Throw it in the damn trash can.

Clearly you gotta pour 'em out for the homies, preferably in a graveyard at midnight.

Throw the vermouth out, obviously. Any opened bottles of vermouth will have gone bad many years ago. For everything else, the higher the proof the more shelf stable it will be.

What kind of liberal search engine are you using over there? Alcohol isn't hydrofluoric acid.

Thank you for the replies. I will see if any of my neighbors want any of it.

Jeezus Christ! How is it possible to have opened bottles of alcohol anywhere near 20 years old? You don't drink at all or what? In my house, there ain't no alcohol even 20 days old. That sh*t gets drunk!

If you really want to dispose of it, the easiest thing is to just pour it out on the driveway and let it evaporate.

Post what the bottles of Whiskey are.

I'd be there are some folks on this board that would be interested in them.

^^what people said above. What kind of whiskey? Some of the old stuff is worth a good amount to people who like whiskey/bourbon. I may be interested, as would others on the trading thread. Thanks!

I'm genuinely curious what the reasoning is to not pour it down the drain....

I've got a 20 yr old bottle of j walker blue, and crown xr I think..

Sometimes you just don't go for the pricier bottles for long periods of time.

Yes, and I am too cheap to buy really good booze so that's not an issue in my house.
