Today I'm releasing a refresh of the private messaging system. It's not 100%, but I figured it is close enough.

Check it out!

Q: Why can't I access it?
A: The private messaging function continues to be a feature only for TexAgs subscribers (basic level or above).

Q: Is there a mobile version?
A: Yes, coming very soon.

Q: Does the search work?
A: Yes, but it is currently limited to search by sender and/or subject.

Q: Why are some messages bold?
A: Unread messages in your inbox are in bold. The same is true in your "sent messages" folder. If the recipient has not read the message yet, it is bold.

Q: What is the blue icon next to some message subjects?
A: This icon designates a grouping of messages into a conversation (similar to Gmail). This will only apply to messages from today and forward. Older messages are displayed in traditional reply form.

Q: Can I use "forum code"?
A: Yes, all tags but the IMG tag are enabled. Note: similar to the mobile site, url's will be auto linked and do not need forum code.

Q: How do I change the emoticons for a message?
A: This function has been temporarily disabled, but will be restored shortly.

Looks great! Will there be a 'tab' on the forum list page next to the links for "Forum List", "Watch List", "FAQ", and "Forum Search"?

Any way to have a full screen view of a message? I don't mind the quick view, but if someone sends me a picture I would like to view it in full.

Stupe, yes, i will eventually add an easy way to delete mulitple selected messages.

sphinx, cdub98, the archive has now been renamed the trash to clear-up confusion. there is currently not away to empty the trash, but I'll add one.

yes, we needed some limit, but after reconsidering, 1000 was to low. i'll push it to 3000 later today.

txaggie_2011, that little sub-menu will get revamped when we release the new forums shortly. until then, I won't mess with it much. on the new site (inclusing the forum list) there is a list to your inbox in in the menu in the top-right corner.

mobile version should be out tomorrow (3/27)

EDIT: scratch that. i just released it. tomorrow I'll add the ability to switch folders and delete messages (and a few other minor items).

appreciate the feedback. I actually prefer that column width a bit restrained and intend to use it even more on the site. I believe large text to be easier to read when it doesn't run so wide across the page.

the images are definitely a problem, I'll work on automically making them fit within the column.

curiously (as I appreciate your opinions), why do you want the feed column wider? help me understand.

With the small pop up I don't mind it.



But when you get to reading a really long post I rather it run wider across the screen. I think that it has to do with being use to reading the actual forum page. When reading a really long paragraph I find it easier to read long.

There really isn't anything wrong with the way it is. I was just suggesting that maybe if you change the width on one maybe you could change it on the other.

I keep trying to use the IM function and a little watch comes on and just stays there. It just started doing this and worked fine the other day. What is up?

also, it will let me delete incoming messages (before the problem above) but not outgoing ones. How would I clean those out?
