I think if y'all had a way to have a board with live score updates y'all would get a lot more web hits on Saturdays. I know y'all are doing a lot to stay ahead of the competition, but if you are looking for another way to distinguish yourself, I think this would be a great idea.
The idea I am picturing in my mind is a separate board. Only Mods and staff can start threads, but any one can comment on them. At the beginning of each week, the mods start a thread for each upcoming game. The tread title would read "team a vs. team b. 7:00pm CST." The message inside of the thread may include location of game, odds, possible injuries, etc. Leading up to the games and during the games, the threads will be open to discussion. But after the game is over, the thread will be locked and the results added to a master thread pinned at the top.
During the games are when things are difficult, but doable. Mods will update the thread title after scores and and the end of each quarter. While this is not a true live update, it is a scoring update. After a score, the thread title may look like this. "Texas A&M 7 Lamar 0. 1st 10:51."
As a recap, allowing only mods and staff to start threads keeps clutter off the board.
Allowing anyone to post before and during the games will keep the more interesting games near the top of the forum.
Locking threads after the game has ended keeps the in progress games at the top of the forum.
Having one thread a week pinned at the top with the final game scores compiles everything in one spot and allows for further discussion.
Having this would eliminate the need to check scores on a different website
***and now one of the biggest positives of doing this.***
Having at least one thread for each football game will make TexAgs one of THE TOP GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS FOR THE SMALLER SCHOOLS THAT DONT HAVE THEIR OWN MESSAGE BOARD. smaller schools still have passionate fans and will visit this forum to join in on the conversation. This will increase the number of page hits and increase the value of the company.
Please tell me if you are interested in pursuing this and I would love to help in any way I can!
