When I'm in the forums and use the back button in my browser, the site becomes a text only version.

and sometimes (if you are lucky) instead of going to the previous page it just cycles through the banner ads.

FYI it happens on Windows 7 and Android too. I get it with Firefox and Chrome and in both ecosystems.
