During Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio, the fishbowl's own Richard Zane joined to share updates from the latest in Aggie Athletics as a busy weekend is on tap in College Station with basketball's run in the SEC Tournament, action on the diamonds and much, much more.


Basketball (21-11, 9-9 in SEC)
Texas A&M opened the 2022 SEC Tournament with a thrilling, overtime victory over the Florida Gators on Thursday, 83-80.

  • Hassan Diarra drilled a 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds remaining in overtime to win the game.

  • Henry Coleman III led all scorers with 22 points.
  • Four other Aggies joined Coleman in double figures as Quenton Jackson and Diarra both scored 12, Tyrece Radford had 13, and Wade Taylor IV had 10.

The win keeps the Aggies’ NCAA Tournament dreams alive as they prepare to face top-seed Auburn in Tampa on Friday.

  • Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT, and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.
  • The Tigers defeated the Aggies, 75-58, on Feb. 12 in Auburn.

Equestrian (10-2, 5-1 in SEC)
It's the regular-season finale this weekend for the top-ranked Texas A&M Aggies as they host No. 2 Oklahoma State on Saturday at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.

  • The meet begins at 11 a.m. CT and will not be televised. Admission is free to the public.
  • A&M also hosts Bridgewater College in a jumping seat only meet on Friday morning, beginning at 9 a.m.

On Wednesday, Emmy-Lu Marsh was named the Southeastern Conference's Reining Rider of the Month for February.

  • Marsh was a perfect 3-0 in February and earned Most Outstanding Performer honors in A&M's win over No. 5 Georgia.

Baseball (8-4, 0-0 in SEC)
Texas A&M took care of business on Wednesday evening as the Aggies defeated Tarleton, 4-1, at Olsen Field.

  • Kole Kaler: 2-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB
  • Logan Britt: Solo home run in the fourth inning

  • Chris Cortez: W, 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
  • Robert Hogan: S, 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 K

The Aggies host their final non-conference weekend beginning on Friday as the Santa Clara Broncos come to College Station.

  • Friday: 6:30 p.m. CT
  • Saturday: 2 p.m. CT
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. CT
  • All games will be streaming on the SEC Network+

Softball (15-5, 0-0 in SEC)
Jo Evans & Co. took down Texas State on Wednesday night at Davis Diamond as the Aggies topped the Bobcats, 4-1.

  • Emiley Kennedy: W, 7.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 BB, 5 K
  • Mayce Allen: Solo home run in the sixth inning
  • Koko Wooley: 2-for-3, 2 runs scored
  • The Aggies only mustered five hits against Bobcat pitching.

The Maroon & White hits the road this weekend to open SEC play against No. 20 Auburn.

  • Friday: 6 p.m. CT on the SEC Network+

  • Sunday: 1 p.m. CT on the SEC Network+

Women’s Tennis (16-1, 2-0 in SEC)
Tatiana Makarova and Mary Stoiana earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors this week.

  • Makarova was named the SEC's Player of the Week. It is the first SEC weekly honor of her career.
  • Stoiana was named the SEC's Freshman of the Week. This is the second time Stoiana has been named the SEC’s Freshman of the Week this season.

No. 11 Texas A&M hits the road this weekend for a pair of SEC matches in the Magnolia State.

  • Friday: at Mississippi State - 3 p.m. CT, not televised
  • Sunday: at Ole Miss - 1 p.m. CT, not televised

Men's Tennis (9-6, 1-0 in SEC)
On Wednesday night, the Aggies dropped a hard-fought match to No. 15 Texas at the Mitchell Tennis Center, 4-3.

  • A&M won the doubles point, 2-0.
  • Giulio Perego and Luke Casper were the only Aggies to win their singles matches.

Texas A&M looks to right the ship this weekend when they host four matches at the Mitchell Tennis Center, including doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday.

  • Friday: vs. Lamar - 2 p.m. CT, not televised

Women's Golf
Gerrod Chadwell and the Aggies return to the links this weekend as they participate in the Clover Cup in Mesa, Arizona.

  • The tournament begins on Friday, March 11, and will conclude on Sunday, March 13.
  • The tournament is being played at the 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Club and is being hosted by Notre Dame.
  • Texas A&M tees off at 10:40 a.m. CT, and the Aggie lineup includes Adela Cernousek, Blanca Fernández García-Poggio, Amber Park, Jennie Park and Zoe Slaughter.
