In this week's Apex Performances of the Week, we highlight Texas A&M basketball's Hayden Hefner as he poured in a career-high 24 points in Friday's victory over Houston Christian. We also give some love to Dexter Dennis, who is showing out with the Dallas Mavericks.
David Nuño’s Performance of the Week: Hayden Hefner
- There was an Aggie basketball game on Friday. Are you familiar with Hayden Hefner? He had a career-high 24 points. He was 3-of-8 from 3-point range. He grabbed two rebounds. He has gone from getting into the game and having some nice moments, like when he went off against Arkansas in the SEC Tournament. He grew last year, and this year, he's an integral part of what they do.
- Dexter Dennis with the Mavs had 17 minutes the other day and 18 points against the Houston Rockets. He's a two-way player, so he plays for Dallas and their G League team. I remember telling you that he looked like an NBA player, and he has been. The Rockets ended up winning.
- I am a Houstonian, so I love the Rockets, Texans, Astros and Dynamo. Still, I have a special place in my heart for the Mavs because I worked for them, and I probably watch more Mavs games than Rockets games. Having Dennis on that team makes it even more fun.
Olin Buchanan’s Performance of the Week: Holiday break
- I don't even know if I have one. I was kind of checked out all week.
