He's playing the best ball he's ever played. Sure he's had better individual games, but rarely against this level of competition and it's been on both ends of the court.
Just so inconsistent. No idea what to expect from him on any given night.
I wanted that late three to fall so bad for him.

That's kinda the point of the thread. He's been consistently good night to night for close to a month at this point.

Today he got the 2nd most minutes on the whole team and shot 2's well and got to the free throw line and made them, so props to him for that. But this is still a bizarre situation with him playing so much at this school. Genuinely not sure he could start for the middle of the road Division-2 team down the road from me.
I felt soo good when he had that shot under a minute to tie the game. Just felt like our moment right there.

Hef has clearly put in a lot of work over the offseason, credit to him for that
Hefner scored 16 against OU, so even though you were "at the game" you were only off by 100%
I've been surprised by the improvement in his defense. Every player on the floor made defensive mistakes against OU.
Hef is the scapegoat for the casuals cause he is per eye test the least talented.
Not sure what you were watching but looking at the box score, he scored 8 points, had 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in 25 minutes.JJxvi said:

Been watching H since his first year. I am continually surprised and pleased with his play recently.
When he first started playing, he was a deer in the headlights. When he got the ball on the court, all he could do was pass off to another player (and sometimes looked frantic doing so.
The guy certainly holds his own now and has become fun to root for!

Probably his best game as an Aggie
He's been pretty damn consistent for a month.
Hefner has played well this season

That said, agreed that he's been playing his best ever.
I do think he's been more reliably open on those set plays than Wilcher even though Wilcher shoots a better percentage.
Odds are probably higher that Hefner will be open AND make it than Wilcher right now on a set play like that. If Wade is playing and we're talking a drive and kick situation then I think you want Wilcher out there because he's better as a pure catch and shoot guy.

Why? He was 2-5 before that 3, everyone else was shooting 25% or lower from 3 last night. I know it's a small sample size, but H was as good an option as any last night.
Seems like after graduation, he's had more time to focus on his game. Much improved this year.
Hef is really good
He's shooting 52.2% from the floor including 37% from 3 since the Purdue game. Active in the passing lanes on defense, making smart decisions with the ball way more. I think he wants to help on the rebounding end, but probably gets too many whistles in that area.
He's honestly played so well, that Wilcher is less apart of the rotation than was expected. If we could get Manny to play with the same kind of consistency as Hefner, then I firmly believe this team could make a long run.
