Hear ye hear ye… everyone stop what you're doing because the man is back. WADE TAYLOR IV IS BACK! Back I tell you! The 2nd all time leading scorer in Aggie history, our leader, our point guard, our multiple time all conference, our pre season all American, is back in the maroon and white and will play tomorrow night against in Reed Arena!
After a 2-2 start in conference play with two tough losses coming at home to #5 Bama and on the road in Rupp Arena to #6 Kentucky. The Aggies will look to bounce back against the 1-3 in conference play LSU Tigers.
Obviously getting two wins against Bama and on the road at Kentucky is a difficult feat, however we all know there's a chance the outcome would have been different if Taylor was out there. I'm not sure if he'll be on a minutes restriction, but his health is of the utmost importance. Regardless, it'll be a spark to our offense!
LSU hasn't played so great to start conference play. They lost at home to Vandy to open up conference play, before dropping 2 on the road to Mizzou and Ole Miss by double digits. They got their first win this week against Arkansas at home. However, they'll be facing the healthy Aggies!
LSU is led by #5 Cam Carter who averages 17.7 ppg. He shoots over 40%% from three. They will be without two key players. Carter's running mate is #1 Jordan Sears who averages 13.9 ppg. Their front court has been decimated with injuries, so we should be able to take advantage with Payne and Coleman. I want to hold them under 60!
One thing that I believe will have really benefited this team is that in Taylor's absence, our team needed to figure out how to score without him. We saw what happens when Phelps is feeling hot! We saw a good 3 point shooting team in the first half against Kentucky, as we've seen us get to the free throw line a lot (now let's just make them) lol. So we'll see what happens with 4 leading the offense! It gives us another outside shot, and we'll see how Phelps plays off the ball or vice versa! I like the idea of staggering Wade and Phelps minutes so each get an opportunity to handle the ball and our opponents never get a chance to breathe! And it keeps the ball out of Obaseki's hands I think he's better cutting to the basket!
I'm sure Reed will be rocking tomorrow night! Our home crowds have been great and hopefully that continues even with an unranked opponent! Let's give LSU hell! We know what happened the last time an LSU team came to College Station. It's time we start winning some games and get back on track for our top 4 seed! BTHO THOSE CORNDOGS!
