2 - number of technical fouls that equated to 4 points for tu as they whittled down our lead.

2 - number of time outs remaining in our pocket -inexplicably - when it was clear (at least to me) that time outs should've been called by Buzz - especially in thenfonal minute when Wade got the ball back after the Aggie lead was cut down to one point

4 - Wade takes a very low percentage shot that was easily blocked - when he should've backed it out for a better shot from him or someone else (or called time out)

I am one of the biggest Buzz fans out there - and absolutely LOVE this team - but this loss might have been avoided with a called time out at that point or better awareness by 4.

On the bright side - we probably broke even as we lost a road game we should've won after winning a road game we should've lost. I would argue that, in spite of my preferring to sweep the sips this year, the road win AT Mississippi was way better than a loss there and a win in Austin as far as our NCAAT resume goes.

AND - perhaps this loss can serve as a teaching moment for the coaches and the players regarding how they might get better at preserving a lead and maintaining their intensity when they have a lead.

Now BTHO Oklahoma!!!

The time outs don't bother me. There isn't a correct or incorrect way to handle end of game situations. Buzz got a lot of slack last year for calling a timeout late and letting the defense set up.

Yeah. You are right.

But I just see it like a patient bleeding out and letting them code while 2 packs of red blood cells were ready to hang and infuse.

Our lead was clearly "bleeding" out - and using a time out earlier might have helped to stop the bleeding and stabilize things...

i am a fan of using timeouts to stop momentum as much or more than to draw up a play.

For all we did right at Mississippi, we did wrong at Texas.

We struggled with composure (though the reffing style added to it, letting tu get away with no-call offensive fouls while calling ours).

Coaches failed to get Obaseki good 2nd half minutes, not to mention Wilcher got no PT in the 2nd half.

We should have been expecting a strong run from the Horns and prepared to counter, but we looked like the rebels, just hoping to bleed clock and hope time ran out before they caught us.

I love the team and coaches- I am confident that they will learn, grow, and not repeat this.

On to this week's games.

Played not to lose rather than to win. One of the most frustrating losses. Hopefully Buzz will use this as a learning tool for him, coaches and players.

Also the 4 point play by the sips after the no call on the moving screen with a forearm to the chest of Solo.

The officiating was remarkably bad.

We clearly make silly mistakes in the second half (the technical fouls e.g.) but we had some good looks that just didn't fall.

Timeouts were not a problem and Williams' calls in the final minutes weren't necessarily bad, they just didn't happen. What did happen? Taylor's half-minute shot was bad, but don't look at the ball, look at the floor.

It appears Taylor's primary job was to draw a foul. Our three other potential shooters were well to the left of the key while our top put-back man was hanging around the top of the key. None was positioned to take a kick-out or get an inside rebound.

Taylor created position to get a call OK then apparently decided to try to make the shot rather than drive hard into the defender's upraised arms. His fade-away with loft allowed the defender to get all ball for a clean block.

Positioning also indicates Phelps make a similar judgment error on the previous possession. Williams arranged a three-corner setup with Phelps driving. Again, Payne was kept at the top of the key -- a strange place for a rebounder unless an outside shot was anticipated.

The setup signaled a kick-out by Phelps to Garcia in the left corner, then a pass to Taylor in the side corner for a 3-point attempt. There was no Aggie in position to clear a Phelps miss, so one can reasonably assume no one expected his shot.

I'm sure Phelps thought he could make the shot or get fouled, but that's a thought he has much too often. And it sure didn't look like the play Williams wanted..
