How we'll be seeded

Yeah i just mean in the first weekend. It's going to be too hard to keep teams separated by region except for the protected seeds, but they're not going to line us up with Texas where we could meet in the second round.

And you mention all the SEC teams but it's a big problem across the board since there is no Pac 12 and the ACC completely sucks.

Like right now everyone on the Torvik seed list between Duke at #2 and Marquette at Marquette at #18 is from the SEC, Big 10 or Big 12 except for St. John's.

I expect them to put us in the same region with Texas like selection committees have done for decades…
Honestly, this would not surprise me at all and could end up being an easy way to potentially create a "must watch" round of 32 matchup, and the committee probably would not have to do much mental gymnastics to create it.

Assuming we are a 3 seed, if the sips make it they are likely a 10 or 11 seed, so it would not be far fetched at all to see them as the 11 seed in our region. Not likely they would get past their first game, but its possible. I do wonder though, if we play them in the SEC tournament next week, would the committee purposefully not put them as the 11 in our region (if we are the 3) so as to avoid two teams playing each other 4 times in one season?

Maybe they don't even think about that stuff.

I think the chances of Texas making the tournament are slim. Thus I think the chances of them advancing to a round of 32 game are very slim. That would likely require 2 NCAA wins, because Texas will very likely be in a play-in game even if they make the NCAAs.

Why are we looking at the polls? They have absolutely NOTHING to do with seeding.

I don't think anyone on this thread said that polls have anything to do with seeding. The disparity between polls and seeding is interesting, though. Our seed is all but guaranteed to be better than our place in the polls, relatively speaking.

Texas is #40 in NET. They frequently get frequent flier upgrades just for being Texas…

I mean, just yesterday you posted this, talking specifically about the polls versus the bracketologists.

Quote:

Updated 3/5 - now that we have 1 game left @ LSU I'd revise these. Lunardi and others have our seed higher than our ranking. Meaning that being ranked 21st or 22nd in the polls should mean a 6 seed, but bracketologists still have us as a 3 seed or a 4 seed despite the drop in the polls. Trusting the bracketologists over the polls:

Polls should never even be looked at when talking about seeding, they have always been wildly different. There is no need to "trust the bracketologists over the poll," as the polls are completely irrelevant and have no affect or influence on the bracket, nor have they ever (or at least not for a long, long, long time).

Hell, even the advanced metrics rankings like Kenpom, BPI and Bart Torvik are usually fairly different from the how the bracketologists have the teams seeded (at the end of the year).

It wasn't a comment to be interpreted as though the polls dictate the seed rather than other metrics. More like this: if all we had was the two major polls, a ranking of 22 would predict a 6 seed. No one paying attention thinks that the polls are a better predictor of seeding than what the bracketologists put out there. And that certainly wasn't claimed by me in what you bolded.

Well Texas is a bubble team so they're not a lock yet.

I see the committee putting us in the same bracket as Texas Tech and Houston.

That would be annoying

I want to play teams from other areas of the country

Tech and us are both projected 3 seeds. Could only end up in the same bracket if one of us ends up a 2 seed or 4 seed.
