But attendance was embarrassing yet again tonight. Half empty stadium for the #8 team in the country. Come on, Ags, can't we do better?

I don't know the number, but I was there, and the 2nd deck for the student section was empty and lower deck outside of the students was not filled in. It was like this for the OU game too, just disappointing not to see more support for our guys.

Reported as 9,283. If that's true, I've see worse. But a noticeable step down from the consistent 11k-12k (conference games only) of the BCG and turgeon era.

8:00 pm starts are brutal, but there's no reason (other than us having terrible basketball fans) not to pack the arena.

It wasn't half empty. Definitely on the disappointing side but it was a mid week game with a late tip-off and some less than ideal weather. Crowd was loud in the second half. First half was frustrating but the second half was fun and crowd was into it.

Look you wouldnt sell out a football game at 8pm on a Tuesday night. You all but eliminate anyone that wants to come from out of town because of the late start.

And the town is not big enough to support it on its own. If your team was in Houston or Dallas it would be different.

You can't blame the students when the rest of the arena was just as empty if not more so.

I know. It's hard to really "blame" anyone for this problem, which has honestly been a chronic issue that there's no real way to solve. It's just frustrating.

I agree and I was thinking the same thing during the game. Attendance has been pretty solid this season though so I'll just attribute this one to bad weather.

BCS is a college town. 8 PM on a Tuesday night is tough for people in Houston, Dallas, SA, etc. As long as the students show up it's fine. This isn't new. Remember Turgeon whining incessantly to the press about attendance at midweek games?

The crowd was sub par, and that's being generous. And unfortunately we sat in a different section close to a small, but obnoxiously feisty section of Georgia fans. First half I was grinding my teeth… with about 6 minutes left I blew a gasket.

If anyone was in Section 124, I apologize.

I keep reading these posts and it blows my mind. I was a student from 06-11 and every conference game was sold out with the exception of a couple

I was a student when we absolutely sucked and we could roll up to a game and sit pretty much anywhere in the arena for zero dollars

We had season tickets in section 124 for many years and we finally got tired of that being the visitors section...we moved this year and have been much happier.

I remember walking up Reed 2 minutes before tip with no line at the door, and finding plenty of seats at mid court on the 15th row. Thanks Melvin.

So how do we get townies to 8pm midweek games?

As I said on the premium board. Breakaway is on Tuesdays and take a ton of students away, so any 8pm game start on a Tuesday will take away students.

As for "olds" I attended the OU game and live in DFW. I decided I didn't want to drive home till 3am in the rain to be at work the next morning so I stayed home.

We have played 2 home games since Jan. 8, and they have both been at 8pm on a Tuesday. This schedule hasn't helped us out very much.

8pm definitely kept me away, didn't have the energy to make the drive, especially by myself. I think it's the first conference game I've missed and maybe 2nd all year.

One thing I didn't think about until I gave my tickets to a couple of students, not everyone has a sports pass anymore. Because of how big the student population got, they actually sell out of sports passes so some students that want to go can't. They should definitely make a game like this "students get in with ID" without having to have a sports pass or pay for a ticket.

Why are we a football school only..?'!! The last 4 years our bball team has been much better program making sec finals twice. Why can't we be a "winners" school and support a top 10 team that is way better than our underperforming football team. This coach and team are great Aggies and here bc the love the culture and each other. Our football team most were here bc of NIL

Were you sitting near the "Miss it!" guy from Georgia? He was loud… and irrritating when we were missing FTs.

As to the attendance: it sucked. Typical excuses, late start, rain, test week, breakaway, etc, but the bottom line is we aren't a good basketball fanbase. We just don't have enough fans who make it a priority, with the opponent having a major impact on attendance even when we're really good.

Because you don't actually care why and just want to *****. People took the time in this thread to explain the multiple reasons why. It has nothing to do with the sport.

Late start, bad weather, conflicting events on a Tuesday night. Football would have the same problem.

Current student here, and I came from a midterm to the game, got there at the start of the second half. This is the week most are starting midterms, so that's another factor.
