There is so much to love about this team. But I'll be honest, given the number of last minute buckets to win games and the propensity of this team to go stone cold in for long stretches of the game...this team could be a Final 4 team or a '1 and done' team. Neither would surprise me.
Give credit to Miss St. They defended their home court and except for 1 game, they've lost all the other games to ranked opponents. They're not a bad ball club.
No doubt this game would have gone differently in College Station; we lost our composure, and look flustered in the 2nd half.

The greatest thing about the tournament is that every game is a one game playoff. You could be one of the best teams in the nation and still lose in the first round. Just ask Purdue, Arizona, Kentucky to name a few

we went like 15:00 minutes without a basket against OU once with turge.
Ever heard of Melvin Watkins. One of his teams lost to A&M Corpus Christi AT REED Arena. They then went on to go WINLESS in Conference play that season.
You can definitely tell who has been following Aggie basketball for a while, and who just recently jumped on the bandwagon.

We pulled within 4 with 9 minutes to go and then 6 with 5 minutes to go. Both times we had multiple defensive stops in a row to either take or continue to cut into the lead. We didn't take advantage of opportunities, IV had an off night, and the refs were working against us too.
I'm confident we will bounce back but there is a real chance we go 0-2 this week even with a strong performance at reed. Can some of yall try and have fun watching one of the best Aggie basketball teams ever instead of moaning about everything?

The second half in Austin was pretty bad.....blew a 22 point lead.

We have had plenty worse in every sport…. This was playing a top 20 team at their house that needed the win a whole lot more than we did.

As bad as blowing a 21 point lead to your rival is, I think we played worse last night.

Or losing at home to app state
The worst loss. Obviously, these losses make the all-time list just depending on your metrics how you rank them 1 to 10

This year is about our tournament run. Plain and simple. Try not to get too high and low with the season. Right now is all about finding our rhythm and getting hot at the right time.
Sherm lost at home to Arkansas State.
I was in attendance the night that we lost 90-58 points on our home court to Oakland. Oakland was 2-5 coming into that game.
This was of course the year that we went 0-16 in conference. Some of yall have no appreciation for context. Last night was playing a top 15-20 team at their house. And we were down 4 with 6 minutes to play.
You can be disappointed the game didn't go our way, Relax. I can assure you that you won't remember this game when you think about the 2025 season.

I'd be more surprised if they were a final 4 team. None of the performances this team has put in this far leads me to believe they could beat a true top 5 team that wasn't having an extremely bad shooting day.
This team is way more likely to be 1 and done than be a final 4 team. They look like a sweet sixteen team at best.

Perspective…we are now a top 10 team playing a top 20 team on the road. Really bad half for sure, but nowhere near the worst Aggie basketball ever! Not even close.

I remember in either '88 or '89 we lost a pre season scrimmage game to IBM.
Yes, the computer company.
I watched most of the 1997-98 season with a 1-15 conference record along with Melvin's goose egg. I'm good!

My expectations for this team are much higher than they achieved Tuesday night.

Scoring 54 points on 0.81 points per possession in a 16-point loss at Mississippi State starts to bring a few things to the forefront, though. The Aggies are now 11th in the SEC in offensive efficiency, 11th in 3-point percentage, 14th in 2-point percentage and 16th in free throw percentage. Their offensive rebounding and defense is good enough to win games, but that offense can look quite ugly at times.
Next seven days: vs. Tennessee (Feb. 22), vs. Vanderbilt (Feb. 26)
