Admit it, you clicked in here ready to talk crap about our offense, well, jokes on you, because this is about our defense.

Defense was all around bad in the 2nd half Tuesday. Guys not hustling back, confusion on assignments (largely from specific players never being in position to start with) and bad rotations, terrible terrible close outs, and lots of reaching. One of the worst defensive halves Ive seen a Buzz team play in the last couple of years. Obviously certain players were worried about foul trouble. But then there were guys like Phelps who just routinely got us in bad positions. I don't know if Phelps exerts too much on offense and tries to save energy on defense, but he's not playing to the Buzz standard lately on the defensive side of the court.

Graph is surprising because it does not feel like we go on big runs, because we never score a lot on points in a hurry.

I guess we go on "runs" because we hold opponents scoreless for 4+ minutes, not because we are scoring 10+ points in 4 consecutive possessions.

That's correct. Even when we cut the lead from ten to four against msu in two possessions we had about four possessions where we could've cut the lead due to our defense but couldn't score ourselves.

UVA protected the ball and could shoot neither of which we do.

Defense creates offensive opportunities interesting that there are 2 other SEC teams in the same section as A&M; Mizzou and Florida.

Think about Georgia. Down by 9 after the first half and we win by 16 that's a 25 point swing.

Going on a run requires stops

Can't score 10 straight points without getting a few stops

That is important. I'm guessing that is why Coach Williams has a metric for stops. He calls them "Turkeys". 3 consecutive stops equals 1 Turkey.

I think with Georgia we had 7 turkeys.

You treasure what you measure. Buzz must like stops a lot.

Yep

There's been games where we've gotten plenty of stops in a span but didnt pull away because we couldn't make shots
