Welcome Back Home Aggies! Another big SEC matchup with Tennessee on Saturday morning to open up a big day of SEC basketball. It's time to flush that last game's second half and move on to the next game.

Tenn has four guys averaging double figures and all of them shoot north of 30% from 3pt range. Lanier, Ziegler and Gainey are a really good guard trio and I'm sure Phelps and Taylor will take that as a challenge. Hopefully we can start seeing March Manny soon and on a consistent basis. I'm looking forward to this early matchup.

Hoping for home team calls and getting to the bonus and even double bonus early both halves - while we defend without fouling! Need one of those 80% days from our Aggies at the free-throw line as well.

I've seen Tennessee go into some long offensive droughts of their own at times - and we have the defense to cause it to happen again... and again!

2 things concern me

1) We are a tough team to prepare for, but Tennessee has had a full week to prepare
2) This is probably the best defensive team we have seen all year.

#1 is my biggest concern. If they had 2-3 days to prep like we do then I would be extremely confident we win this one. I still like our chances and think we have a greater than 50% chance here, but that prep time gives me the greatest concern.

The full week thing also hurts us a bit because we're a lot deeper than they are and it minimizes that advantage.

But I think this is more vibes than X's and O's anyway. Phelps and Wade are gonna bounce back from that awful game and be locked in

Buzz is playing 3D chess by tanking the 2nd half of the MSU game so Tenn can't get a proper scouting report on us.

We have almost identical records, and they are ranked 1 spot ahead of us in the AP poll. Mississippi State is ranked 21 and was favored against us at home. I feel like normally the home team would be favored in this situation.

Depends on how you define equal.

The NCAA committee first look of top-16 had Vols the 5th overall seed and Aggies the 6th. The AP poll currently has Vols ranked #6 and Ags ranked #7. Both teams are currently 9-4 in the SEC.

So in terms of seeding resume and poll and conference rankings, these two teams are pretty dang close right now. Close enough that if A&M wins they probably swap places with Vols in the seeding order and AP poll.

Predictives, efficiency numbers, a bit more of a gap between Vols to Ags.

Same ... Based on what I've seen the Ags are just a better team than Tenn. This Tenn team isn't on the level of the last few years IMO

We just laid a stinker in Starkville and all season longs perception has been that the Vols are a better team than us.

I do agree with your sentiment as that is usually the case, but in this situation I understand us being dogs, even at home

Time for us to prove betting America wrong

Do you think 11 AM game time favors the home team?

I can't back up the data but intuitively feels early game favors the home team and late game neutralizes a bit of home team advantage.

Normally I think the later the better for the home team but we're an exception because we can't shoot so anything that throws off the other teams routine is probably good for us. Should play this game outside at 6 AM.
