Bobby Hurley's number was retired on February 28, 1993. He graduated in May of 1993.

That was the first one I checked…

Here's a little bit on him:
Hurley was a two-time NCAA champion (1991, 1992)
He was the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player in 1992
He was a consensus first-team All-America in 1993
He set the NCAA's assist record with 1,076

However, the first criteria at Duke is you have to be a graduating senior.

So what's your point?

I'll take a guess that you believe that Coach Williams is leaving A&M. And as a parting shot, he wanted to make sure that Wade's number was retired.

Is that your thinking? Do you believe that Wade's contributions to A&M do not merit having his number retired? And the only way that was going to happen was if Coach Williams took it upon himself to do it before leaving? And since he was leaving, he won't have to suffer the blowback?

Coach might leave, but I don't think he does hope not. Buzz Williams is my favorite person in Texas A&M Basketball.

Buzz might leave. Buzz might retire. But I don't feel like he did this because of that. Because Buzz was saying before the season that Wade will one day have his jersey in the rafters and he said on multiple occasions (Oct/Nov) that it probably should happen on senior night. He hasn't brought it up recently, but mentioned it multiple times right before and first weeks of season. So if it's a clue, then that would mean he was planning to leave before the season started.

I actually find it fascinating that he left it until after the game.

Gotcha but my point was why if he's leaving would he honestly care to do it or not. I get if they they do it he'd be there, I just don't get why - if he's bailing - he would care to make it happen is all.

Neither do I, I think Coach Williams has worked a long time for this. I think it's great, just gobsmacked at some of the 12th Man Spirit on this board.

Love the Buzz Saw. He fits in Aggieland like a glove.
