I'd sit on the floor in front of this giant wooden radio that was bigger than me and listen to Aggie basketball. Big John would light 'em up. He could shoot!

I never saw him play because we lived far away, but I too listened to the games on the radio when I could find them.

Two I remember offhand are when I hid my transistor radio under my pillow (it was a school night and my dad had told me to go to bed) and listened to A&M lose to UTEP and Jim "Bad News" Barnes in the NCAA tournament in 1964.

The other one was listening to A&M play Arkansas in 1966, needing to win to clinch the SWC. Beasley had 43 points as I recall, but we lost.
