This game sucked. Opportunities to win it but couldn't get it done. But a game like this Is the exact reason why this rivalry is great. Glad to have it back
totally disagree. That's what makes it fun to play them and not run awayNyAggie said:

Not saying I advocate any of what they did in baseball as good behavior, but I will say its one of the reasons, IMO, that they win more titles in their AD than ours. They are willing to be cold blooded assassins and they punch for knockouts. The baseball thing was an exaggerated event that doesn't come along very often (but VERY effective), but they do it in all their sports. Took a dagger to Tech's basketball team with Beard hire, tried it in football multiple times, womens tennis they did the same thing they did in baseball just a few years back. Sometimes it works (Schloss, Beard) and sometimes it doesnt (Herman, McWilliams). Point being, perhaps we need to take a little more PR risk, stop being the nice guys, and pack a punch when we can. I fear its not in our DNA, though. We are the Cubs.Dark_Knight said:
Nah tuck fexas. I hate those f@$$ots. It goes beyond mere sports. What they did to us with the baseball team, effectively sabotaged our championship run, is inexcusable and dirty. They are fundamentally different from us and I despise that university for everything that it is, I loathe most of the tshirt fans, and I can't stand most of the actual alumni.

Not much of rivalry when we are getting beaten pretty handedly. we are 5-10 in head to head this year. Thankfully the track teams are saving us some face
Its the students and younger fans that obsessively do horns down all the time (even when we are not playing them), so I would say it means something to them. Maybe that isn't heat though...BaytownAg13 said:
I wonder if this is as much of a heated rivalry to these current students. Not that it would have made a difference yesterday, but I was thinking about that in the lead up and during the game.

Because we have a great track record of beating them when we have a better record?Bunk Moreland said:wangus12 said:

And this is the reason I laugh at all the people who didn't want to play them for the last 12 years. Had we played them we would have seen the best generation of success ever against them across most sports.
But we didn't. We let them re-tool and figure out their issues and the moment they began building success was right as our programs started faltering and now we're connected again in-conference.

Yeah, I really don't think that represents the hate a lot of older ags feel. There is no way that it can since they haven't had these experiences. Maybe the students will feel that way more so after this football season, but the student athletes this year haven't had a chance to really feel the rivalry.Texas_Ag11 said:Its the students and younger fans that obsessively do horns down all the time (even when we are not playing them), so I would say it means something to them. We didn't run from them. That's what their propaganda wants people to believe if you followed this back when we moved to the SEC. Know your history. We (Loftin) made a calculated decision to go to the SEC. We went to a place with equal revenue sharing with a similar culture to ours. That culture in the SEC changed with Sankey.
The longhorns tried to cheat the system, specifically by maintaining revenue sharing in the big 12 that was not equal, doing the longhorn network despite its impact to other conference members, I'm sure I'm forgetting something. When it comes to athletics, they are the worst. They cheat the system to get any advantage possible by even trying to create and make rules that favor them. If history is a guide, they will destroy the SEC. I'm hopeful they don't. But, based on my Bama and LSU friends, they don't see the deceit yet, or they overlook it. Texas athletics is toxic. There are threads that have documented their entire history of toxicity.

no the sec move was needed. Them moving is whatever. Play them and win and it doesn't matter. I hate the victim card. The refs aren't against us, the league isn't against us. So, in your mind,, because we left for a conference that later they also left for us why we lose to them, and we were running away from them. You would have preferred to stay in the Big 12.
so yes that's running away lolNyAggie said:BraxtonW said:totally disagree. That's what makes it fun to play them and not run awayNyAggie said:

Nah, was better without playing them
Too many of our fans only now care about that game again
It's not running away it's seeing a toxic presence for what it is and purging it from your life
It was a glorious 12 years without them

Then why are you talking about us running away?
Life was better without them. How are those victories over them going for you? You're 1 of 4 since they've been in the SEC. You loving it?

Have you seen the "move to big ten" post. Our fanbase is scared of a university. I was simply saying that us having the rivalry back benefits both sides. Its great.
