This game sucked. Opportunities to win it but couldn't get it done. But a game like this Is the exact reason why this rivalry is great. Glad to have it back

Nah tuck fexas. I hate those f@$$ots. It goes beyond mere sports. What they did to us with the baseball team, effectively sabotaged our championship run, is inexcusable and dirty. They are fundamentally different from us and I despise that university for everything that it is, I loathe most of the tshirt fans, and I can't stand most of the actual alumni.

Not saying I advocate any of what they did in baseball as good behavior, but I will say its one of the reasons, IMO, that they win more titles in their AD than ours. They are willing to be cold blooded assassins and they punch for knockouts. The baseball thing was an exaggerated event that doesn't come along very often (but VERY effective), but they do it in all their sports. Took a dagger to Tech's basketball team with Beard hire, tried it in football multiple times, womens tennis they did the same thing they did in baseball just a few years back. Sometimes it works (Schloss, Beard) and sometimes it doesnt (Herman, McWilliams). Point being, perhaps we need to take a little more PR risk, stop being the nice guys, and pack a punch when we can. I fear its not in our DNA, though. We are the Cubs.

Not much of rivalry when we are getting beaten pretty handedly. we are 5-10 in head to head this year. Thankfully the track teams are saving us some face

I wonder if this is as much of a heated rivalry to these current students. Not that it would have made a difference yesterday, but I was thinking about that in the lead up and during the game.

Its the students and younger fans that obsessively do horns down all the time (even when we are not playing them), so I would say it means something to them. Maybe that isn't heat though...

And this is the reason I laugh at all the people who didn't want to play them for the last 12 years. Had we played them we would have seen the best generation of success ever against them across most sports.

But we didn't. We let them re-tool and figure out their issues and the moment they began building success was right as our programs started faltering and now we're connected again in-conference.

Because we have a great track record of beating them when we have a better record?

No we wouldn't have.

We would have lost at least half the time, probably more.

I think we went through our best period in a while because we WEREN'T playing them and obsessing over them like we have historically done. It's definitely mental.

Yeah, I really don't think that represents the hate a lot of older ags feel. There is no way that it can since they haven't had these experiences. Maybe the students will feel that way more so after this football season, but the student athletes this year haven't had a chance to really feel the rivalry.

I'm thinking teams in the future might have more of a fire lit under them when playing tu.

We didn't run from them. That's what their propaganda wants people to believe if you followed this back when we moved to the SEC. Know your history. We (Loftin) made a calculated decision to go to the SEC. We went to a place with equal revenue sharing with a similar culture to ours. That culture in the SEC changed with Sankey.

The longhorns tried to cheat the system, specifically by maintaining revenue sharing in the big 12 that was not equal, doing the longhorn network despite its impact to other conference members, I'm sure I'm forgetting something. When it comes to athletics, they are the worst. They cheat the system to get any advantage possible by even trying to create and make rules that favor them. If history is a guide, they will destroy the SEC. I'm hopeful they don't. But, based on my Bama and LSU friends, they don't see the deceit yet, or they overlook it. Texas athletics is toxic. There are threads that have documented their entire history of toxicity.

I never said we ran away. I'm saying if we do what the op said and never play them again, that would be running away now since they are in the same conference. I understand the whole big 12/ sec thing.

So, in your mind,, because we left for a conference that later they also left for us why we lose to them, and we were running away from them. You would have preferred to stay in the Big 12.

no the sec move was needed. Them moving is whatever. Play them and win and it doesn't matter. I hate the victim card. The refs aren't against us, the league isn't against us. That's just all excuses

The thing about the SEC move is that it was one of the biggest proactive moves in A&M history. We toyed around it for years and then finally took our shot. On the level of going non reg and admitting women. It worked, we elevated our brand above all the old SWC and Texas schools aside from Texas. Probably the biggest challenge we have now is that we made this seismic shift decision and won the decision, then sunk back to being the nice guy and didn't protect the borders and reinforce ourselves. We sat back and enjoyed the SEC and the SEC turned on us bc we were too nice. We took a handshake reassurance from our bride rather than a prenup. The thing I really fault our leaders for was not playing the move better in terms of actively working back channels to ensure they never joined this conference. We could have still failed, but we didn't even try it. We lost our differentiation and now we inserted two bigger brands (Texas & OU) into our conference. Texas joining when they did was a much bigger deal than what they did to us with Schloss. It was a massive blow to our advancement.

What has that got to do with you loving the fact A&M is 1-4 against your favorite school since they joined the SEC?

Being the in the SEC benefits tu. They don't give a f about A&M or you. But you snuggle up to tu because the thought of merely playing them gets you all moist.
