Class of 2026,I appreciate your tenacity regarding the rivalry with Texas. The problem is, the sips don't play nice, don't play fair, and quite frankly don't like playing on a level field. From canceling the A&M series in the early 1900s due to losing too many times to A&M (demanded the Aggies fire legendry coach Charley Moran, and A&M did so in order to keep the much needed revenue from playing them). Also, look into Charles Alan Wright, an unscrupulous attorney at UT Law that was on the NCAA infractions committee. He swept the sip dirt under the rug, while going after rival threats like the emergence of SMU, and running off Jackie Sherill for turning the tables at A&M.
They've ruined multiple conferences and their $300 million dollar check from ESPN for the Longhorn Network was the key factor that broke up the Big-12.
They lobbied hard to keep A&M in the SWC when it was apparent that the Ags might be headed to the SEC with Arkansas. They also sought support from all Big-12 members to not play Texas A&M after 2012, when A&M made the jump to the SEC. Deloss Dodds himself canceled the series, as Lofton and Aggie BOR presumed the series would remain.
Bottom line, all the SWC and most B12 schools needed the sips. A&M doesn't need them and as the dynamics of Texas A&M have evolved, we have options. Sankey and the SEC couldn't care less about A&M, and in due time the conference will regret admitting such a toxic cancer into the group. If the Big-10 wants to grow their media market in Texas and extended an invite to A&M (a respected AAU research university with a $20 billion endowment with world-class facilities and a highly supportive / influential alumni base) A&M should do what's best for A&M.
Also, most of the country doesn't even consider A&M vs. Texas a huge rivalry. The sips beat up on an all male military school for 70+ years and the rivalry is relatively even after the scholarship caps of the modern era.
Bottom line, A&M doesn't need Texas.
