Final Stats
66 / 68 teams correct - Missed on Texas & UNC for West Virginia and Indiana. Not shocked on Indiana, and not shocked Texas/UNC in (They were #69 and #70 for me) West Virginia is just plain wrong.
43 / 66 exact correct seed
63/ 66 within 1 seed line.
Had Louisville as a 6, they ended up the top 8 seed. I am ok with this, as some had Louisville as high as a 5.
Had Mizzou as my top 8th seed, they were the 3rd highest 6 seed.
Had Memphis a 7 and they got a 5!!
Basically switched these Louisville and Mizzou. The 6 through 8 seed lines were brutal to seed all year, very tightly bunched profiles.
I thought Mizzou would get punished for a bad non conf schedule. The frustrating thing about bracketology is sometimes criteria matters...and some years it doesn't.
Memphis - almost everwhere was an 8, i thought they would get some respect for scheduling and beating some SEC teams but that their quality metrics would doom them and be a good reward to play them for some 2 that got stuck as a 2 and not a 1. But the committee decided to completely ignore the quality stats here...but no where else in the bracket (iowa state, UNC, etc.)
On A&M i had us as the #12 overall playing in Denver. We end up as the #13 overall playing in Denver. I think the committee overseeded Iowa State but they favored the quality metrics for some decisions more than i thought they would.
I only got 6/34 exact matchups right.
both the 16 v 16 games in Dayton.
16 Alabama State vs. St. Francis vs. 1 Auburn in Lexington
1 Houston vs. 16 SIUE in Wichita
3 Kentucky v 14 Troy in Milwaukee
8 Miss State v 9 Baylor in Raleigh
This was mainly due to the Iowa State assumption which shuffled several pod spots, and i also had Alabama over Tennessee which shuffled more spots around.
Overall, i think almost every bracketologist only got 66 correct this year. I applaud anyone who got 67. If anyone says they got all 68 they are lying. Very happy with 64/66 wihtin 1 seed line given how closely bunched this was in several areas of the bracket.
All 1s right, All 2's right, A&M / Iowa State my only miss on the 3/4, and Oregon/Purdue the only miss on the 4/5.
Went out on a limb on a couple calls, most paid off. Mizzou did not.
Overall, the last 6-7 weeks I do for the engagement and journey and discussion along the way to debate who stacks up where, i feel my analysis throughout the process was solid even if for some reason West Virginia was apparantly way further back than thought. It is alot of work to get to this point, but i appreciate all the posters that follow my work. I look forward to getting back after it next season.
That said...who got snubbed and a good draw and all that stops mattering at noon on Thursday, looking forward to the best weekend of the sports calendar coming up and hope the Ags can make a memorable run this year.
