Was a little annoying to play Yale and finally be able to get him and Wilcher open and they combined to go 0/7.
Prediction:
Between Hefner and Wilcher, they will make at least 3 three-point shots TODAY!!!

I can understand Wilcher having an off night. He will be back to normal tonight.
why is our 3 point percentage so atrocious?
A Hefner dunk will do great things for morale.

Wilcher was just a hair off; if I remember correctly his first shot almost went down but popped out

If Hef makes 2 out of 2 on his first two three-point shots, you don't want him to try a third?
A) We don't have great shooters other than Wilcher
B) Because we mostly have bad to mid shooters, defenses can overplay the good ones
C) Were not very good at springing guys open off of screens, which is partially due to B and partially due to us not being very good at setting screens
D) We don't have good passers other than Taylor and sometimes Phelps and Garcia so even on the rare occasions we do get someone open that we actually want to be open, the pass is often either late or off target and our feet aren't set
So a little bit of everything.

Her needs to drive and dish. Period. Their 7 footers will clog the lane. Drive and kick out to a shooter. Witcher should go off today.

Hef and Wilcher contributing a bit from 3 would be a great bonus, but we are going no further if Zhu and Wade don't pick it up from trey. Wade is 3 of 13 from deep in last 2 games and Zhu is 2 of 13 from deep last two games, and worse from 2.
Wade made up for it against the sips by getting to the FT all day and making nearly all of them.
But Wade and (especially) Phelps must both hit stride now or the ride ends in Denver.

Garcia is a good shooter but I'm not calling him a great one since he practically has to be held at gunpoint to shoot it. Though he's finally started letting it fly a little more lately. Better late than never.

Hefner is a waste of space right now. He doesn't need to be on the floor unless we are up by 20.
Hef will get his minutes in second half and will contribute

He's sorta athletic for his height, worked hard, is an average defender at best and can't shoot for sh&t. That sounds more like d2 or d3.

This is the story of some "fans":
That they can't understand or are unable to realize that the REASON (besides the COVID year) that a guy like Hefner could be our all time games played record holder was because Buzz and the teams he has cosched were able to win (and thus play in) so many EXTRA games after the regular season had ended - whether it was the remarkable success of going deep into the SECT in multiple years, their run to the NIT Finals in 2022 or their three subsequent appearances in the NCAAT - winning games in the last two.
Again, as i noted in another thread, that degree of overall success is unmatched by any other Men's Basketball coach that Texas A&M has ever employed.

I doubt he would have started for Sam either. Just another guy who Buzz fell in love with because of his heart that has no business seeing regular PT on an SEC team. Much less starting.
It's a crying shame that Hef played any minutes for us, much less start and play meaningful ones. Thankfully that desperation move has run out of time.
